Well initially I thought I would get a 2.0 carat ring and I realized after looking alot that any stone without eye visible inclusions would be way too expensive. I thought maybe a good way to get a large looking stone for less money would be to get a stone set with diamonds around either a princess or round solitaire. I found two that I liked at Costco but they are 6,000 and 10,000. I also like that they are thin bands because I have short fingers and that tends to look better on my hand. How can I get a ring like the two pictured below for cheaper (I hope the pictures post!). The solitare sizes are only 1.0 carat (for the round) and 1.5 carats (for the princess) respectively. Thanks so much in advance!!!!!!!

Price: 5999.99 Total Carat Weight 1.4

THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!

I love that style and have read that the pave ring around the diamond makes it look much bigger. Ritani makes a style like that. I don't know anything about Costco diamonds but I would check with some of the internet vendors to compare pricing.

Are you asking for the mountings to be less costly or for the diamond center and the mountings to cost less?

You can always spend less by buying lower quality or smaller main diamonds. You may end up with something that you just don't like, however. This is a finely balanced situation.

You can spend less by finding a source that uses a lower mark-up, but with the present information, it would be difficult for any vendor interested in your business to step forward. No matter how much less they say they can do the job, I'd wonder how different it would, or might, be. Wouldn't you?

Dave,

thanks for the reply, on pricescope I found a similar quality round diamond I color 1.00 carat and VS2 clarity for 3331. If I could find a setting like the one pictured above (for the round stone) for less than 2668.99 (preferably significantly less - like 1000 if possible) I would save some money. For the princess cut, I found a diamond for 5620 for Color I, Clarity VS2 and Carat Size 1.51. If I could find a setting similar to the one pictured above for less than 3879 I would save some money. Does that seem possible? If not would I be better off buying from Costco? They are pretty reputable.

Thanks,

Sam

The might be able to help you out and they are very nice people to work with.

Have no clue about their pricing...but Ritani has similar settings!

I looked at the same rings at Costco online! Gorgeous!!

If you buy a poorly cut round, it will end up looking significantly smaller than a 1 ct stone should. My advice would be to focus on something other than price. Maybe the place to give is in clarity. Look at better cut SI2 stones.

I would never buy at Costco.

If you get a well cut center stone from a pricecope vendor around the I color range, then maybe you can have the ring made with CZs instead of diamonds in white gold for the same look. You might be able to stay in your range that way. Or just buy your own melee from one of the vendors. There are blank rings out there that jewelers have access to and if you can buy the melee a bit at a time, you might not feel such a heavy price all at once. Just a thought.

Thanks everyone for your help! I went to go look at Ritani rings after some people on the board suggested them. They are exactly what I want!! They also look really big on the finger - I tried on the .50 diamond round soliataire endless love and it looked big on my finger. The 1 carat looked huge!!! I am now trying to find the best price on the setting and then if I go with a diamond larger than .5 carats I can have that set in the Ritani mounting. Otherwise the .5ct price is pretty similar to what I would pay for a seperate diamond. If anyone knows a place to get a good price on the Ritani setting I would really appreciate it!!!! Thanks again for all your help - I think I found the ring I want!!!!
