I have decided to bite the bullet and commit to buying a diamond in the very near future. In my previous post, Diamondseeker was kind enough to find a few diamonds in my price range, the largest was around 1.3 carats. I am working with IDJewelry to narrow down the search. My dream diamond would be 1.5 carat (I plan to wear in good health for a long long time and have no plans to upgrade or re-sell in the future). Price is really paramount so what is the cheapest 1.5 carat that I can buy? I can go up to J in color, Si2 eye-clean, very good cut/polish/symmetry. Thanks sooo much in advance!!!

You absolutely need to stick with Excellent cut if you want the stone to face up as white as possible. Very good on polish and symmetry is okay.

Did I link this one for you before? Because it has the potential to be a great SI2:

That is such a good price I would recommend putting it on hold and ask for idealscope images. Not sure you'll do much better than this one in that budget range. Plus is has medium fluorescence which is a very good thing in I and J colored stones.

You know what??? That is the SAME diamond that Davi linked for you, except James Allen provides pictures and will get an idealscope image! This stone may not last long with lurkers here. I really recommend putting it on hold if you think you might be interested.

Yekutiel may be able to call in that diamond as well. You really have to decide if you want to stick with the $6k budget and go with a 1.3 range stone or pay $7200 (or less maybe with ID Jewelry) to get the 1.5...IF it is eyeclean.

Thanks sooo much, Davi and Diamondseeker... emailing Yuketiel now :appl:

Re: Please Help Finding a Diamond....Update

Hi all,

So I contacted James Allen regarding the diamond that Davi and Diamondseeker recommended. They just got back to me today that the diamond is cloudy and they would not recommend it. So I am still in need of help finding that elusive diamond (at least 1.5 carat, up to J color, excellent cut) between 6-7K.

Thanks!!!

The lowest prices listed for virtual 1.5 J SI2's is $8000 and up (aside from the stone that was obviously discounted because it was cloudy). So you will have to go down to K color or go below 1.5 cts.or raise your budegt. Not to mention you'll still have to sort through SI2's because a lot of them will not be eyeclean.

I'll be glad to help you look again one you decide which compromises you are willing to make!

Here's a 1.4 J SI2 but you'd have to check again to see about the clarity as it has clouds, too:

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/J-SI2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1441538.asp ($7700)

Just to show you, a 1.5 J SI2 jumps up to $8700:

1.5 K SI1 $7790: http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/K-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1397546.asp

Hi all,

It seems my previous budget was not realistic...so I'll try again... max of 8K, up to J color, excellent cut, at least 1.5 carat, up to SI2 but eye-clean. Thanks to all (especially Diamondseeker) for your responses!
