I have learned a lot on this forum and can see that many of you are very skilled and knowledgeable. I would appreciate your help. Especially since I had focused on learning about rounds since I love them but I have the opportunity to buy this oval secondhand (divorce). This is the information from the GIA grading report.

Oval Brilliant
E/SI1
10.04x7.61x4.86
2.47 carat
depth: 63.9%
table: 62%
girdle: medium to thick, faceted
culet: none
polish: good
symmetry: good
fluorescence: none
couple of feathers on the top of the stone and comments that pinpoints are not shown

what do you think???

Thank you so much,
Littledeb

I know nothing of ovals, but here are some of my random thoughts. Have you seen the diamond in question? Does it sparkle in a variety of lighting environments? Does it have an obvious bow tie effect or very little? Has the stone been checked by an independent appraiser to verify that it is the stone that the report is for and that it is in undamaged condition? Have you run a price check by shape, carat, color, clarity to see what the going price is for a stone similar to the one you are considering? If not, how do you know this is even a good deal? Like I said, I know nothing of ovals, but I do know what I would want checked before I bought any stone especially one secondhand. Hope this helps.
