Hey folks.. I've been lurking for a bit and doing lots of research. The forums are really helpful, thanks for that.

I need help deciding between two stones. I've seen them both in person, and they are both excellent diamonds. Maybe some of the more experienced people in here can weigh in..

It is going to be set in a platinum solitaire band, medium thickness.

Both diamonds are eye clean and very brilliant. Both are hearts and arrows cut. On paper the second one is better, but I looked at them both and they are so similar to the naked eye that I cant tell the difference.

Here they are..

One is a 0.9ct H SI1 Premium Ideal Cut Diamond -

This is 0.77ct G VVS2 Superior Round Diamond - (The jpeg link below I feel doesnt accurately represent the diamond. I looked at it under the scope and there is a grouping of very small inclusions, maybe 4 or 5 dots all positioned together. But none of them visible to naked eye.)

I've reserved both of these diamonds and on Tuesday I'm going in to make my final decision.

My girlfriend is very small. 5' tall with small hands.

On paper the second one is better, but I looked at them both and they are so similar to the naked eye that I cant tell the difference. I'm stuck between the quality for weight trade off. Better quality on paper but smaller size? or larger size but not as good on paper?

TIA

Get the bigger one.

"Better"how? Higher clarity grade you mean? That's subjective. Some people really feel strongly about having a "mind-clean" (high clarity) stone, others (myself included) are happy with any SI clarity grade so long as it is eye clean and inclusions pose no durability issues. If GOG says the H SI1 is eye clean, I'd go for that - it's bigger. You WILL notice the size, you WON'T notice the clarity (as long as the bigger one is eye clean). Don't pay for something you literally cannot see.

Yea, this seems to be the consensus. I will compare them both again on Tuesday and I'll prob end up going with the bigger one.
