I've been looking for a 2ct cushion for my girlfriend. I've worked with ERD and I think I've decided on a stone. I'm hoping I can get some input from those of you who know diamonds much better than I do. The stone will be set in a harry winston-style halo/pave ring. Given the price of the ring, I'm hoping to keep the diamond close to or below 20k. I've attached a copy of the GIA report.

The gf has seen some of the diamonds from ERD and likes the old mine style. Her preference is slightly rectangular, in the 1.05-1.10 ratio range. I just want to make sure I'm getting a good diamond for a good price. I've been offered a price in range with what I'm hoping to spend. They had a G stone for ~3k more, but it was more rectangular and something about it just didn't wow me. Otherwise in my last visit I didn't see anything else w/in my desired price range.

High level details:
Old Mine Brilliant Cushion
2.12 ct H VS2
Described as 'soft corners, pillowy' (I think this is good?)

ERD's prices are very competitive. If you have a link/picture/ASET that would be more useful than the certificate in order to tell you our thoughts on it.

I can't find this particular stone on their website. I can email them and see if they have pictures or the ASET for it.

Video works too.

That is the correct diamond! I was searching only under cushion, not under the 'A Cut Beyond'.

Any input on this stone?

Looks like a pretty stone. I like the shape of it and the culet especially. Shouldn't have a strong maltese cross under the table but does show a bit of darkness under there, it's a trade off with some of these. I think it's got nice spread, and I like the small table. The ASET is okay as well, I've seen stronger and I've seen weaker. If the center flashes on and off then I think you'll be good. The price is fair.

How are you setting it? I think, if it suits the lifestyle, a halo would be a good choice for this stone because it would help give you a good edge to edge definition/ brightness.

Thanks for the great reply. It will be set with a halo and pave on the band. I'm undecided on if I want pave on the struts and donut as well or if those will just be the platinum.

Beautiful! Please don't do pave on the doughnut if she wants a wedding band. If you do, then she'll have to have a spacer band to keep it from scratching the wedding band.

Personally I wouldn't put pave on the struts or the donut. But especially no on the donut, for the reasons DS stated.

Thanks. I was actually leaning against doing the struts and donut. I didn't even think about needing a spacer band.

My only worry is the imagine showing what looks like a decent sized inclusion. I don't remember seeing this in person, and can't see it on the video. I may just need to confirm it's not actually eye-visible.

You absolutely should confirm that! You are spending a lot of money. But those pics are hugely magnified. Just double check it with ERD before you buy. And even if you get it an it is a little visible at one strange angle when the light is just hitting it right, it's a birthmark, and it just means your eyes work that you can see it.
