I have found a potential contender and would like your opinions. The vendor who is offering this "ideal" RB is unable to take any fancy pics and will only allow the diamond to be sent to an appraiser after it has been purchased. They do offer a 30 day return policy, which is good in this case. But, of course, I am still a little scared to purchase sight unseen. From the info I post below, would you buy the diamond based solely on the info given by the vendor and AGS cert? This diamond would be set in a 6-prong platinum band.

Specs are as follows:

AGS cert- AGS Ideal 0 (polish, symmetry, proportions)
RB
1.91ct measurements 7.97 x 8.02 x 4.94mm
I (2.5)
SI2 (6)
Table: 55%
Depth: 61.7%
Crown: 34.2
Pavillion: 41
thin to medium girdle
no culet/fluor

everything is "1A" except for the pav. at 41 "3A"
What exactly would it make it then?

***editted: HCA scored a 1.5

Vendor states, "The inclusions are mainly white feathers (they are off too one side) the diamond is 100% eye clean, a really nice diamond"

The price is excellent as far as I am concerned, but just want to make sure it isn't that price for bad reasons. Thanks everybody!

The specs sounds great. The lower crown angle makes up for the slightly higher pav angle, so you should be fine there, as the HCA shows. I think the risk on this stone is the inclusions. I would make sure that none of the features breaks the surface, and ask if they can be seen from ANY angle, not just the top view. I'd then probably have it sent to you or a local appraiser so that you can evaluate it during the 30 day return period.

Since you have to pay for the stone before seeing it, I would check out the vendor carefully and make sure the return policy is a no reason needed policy. You don't want to end up having to fight to get your $$ back if you aren't happy with it or it isn't what they say it is. That is your real risk. My DH absolutely refused to pay for the stone before seeing it through an appraiser. Now, I would trust many if not all of the PS vendors, but I would not trust an unknown entity for that amount of $$.

Good luck! It sounds like a beautiful stone!

It's looks good. It also looks like a diamond listed by several vendors. Can you have another vendor that will send it to an appraiser on approval call it in for you? One of the listing vendors has had some issues. Do a search and decide for yourself if they are a concerns.

good luck

thanks so much lop and noobie!!!
both of you made me feel better about the specs. i had used everything i learned on Pricescope, and the numbers looked good to me, except the pavillion angle. so when no one answered the post, i thought i had failed my first test in the RB department!

my BF is a little iffy about buying it first then sending it to an appraiser. so i may do what noobie suggested and have another vendor send the diamond out to an appraiser prior to purchase. to tell you the truth, i didn't do the search on Pricescope until this morning, after i started the thread. i normally do that first, but do it through the "search by cut quality," so i just so happened to be searching this vendors website and found the diamond. now that i see it is available to a few vendors, i will be in touch with one of them. makes complete sense to me

lop, i will ask about the inclusions and whether you can see them from any angle and if they break the surface. again thanks for the responses
