My neice had her son on Christmas Eve.

He had a very bad heart problem and had cardiac surgery Christma Day. he''d been in NICU for a month, was allowed to come home and we just got the call he is back in the hospital. I''m not going to bore you with a lot of details --I may start to cry, but PLEASE send a good thought to baby Matthew Thomas. He''s having further surgery tomorrow.

Can you tell me the nature of the heart problem?? We have a PS''er Nan, Sevensone who used to post here, who''s baby was born with a heart defect.

I am in constant contact with her, so if you tell me a bit more, she''d be able to help you I''m sure. Her son was born with only 2 chambers. They did heart surgery after he was born, and then again at 12 months or so. He''s a whopping 5 years of age now, and is a charmer. Full of life, and is quite the comedian..

His name is Angello, so you can search for threads about him.


He''s a bit of a mascot on PS, We all call him our little man!!!!

He cracks me up, he''s sooooo funny. To think this little guy didn''t have much of a chance.

BUT this little guy had the last word, he fought, and what a brave fight he gave. I was there just after the heart operation...

His spirit was soooo awesome. I was in awe of him them, and to this day, this kid just has my heart.

I would love to get you in touch with her. She''s been through it all.
And had a great result thank god.

She can''t post here , something about her computer. But I will tell her about this thread. I will do my best to respond on her behalf.

This is all we kjnow for sure:

Sometime during her pregnancy she was referred to a specialist because the dr. detected something wrong with the baby''s heart in utero. She was referred to a specialist who saw her thru the pregnancy, she was induced and the baby was born full term, thankfully, and at a normal birthweight. He has had one catherization and one major surgery. He was hooked up to tubes, feeding and oxygen for a couple of weeks.

The parents are being private about all this, and all I know for sure is he had a 5 hour operation Chrismas Day. He was discharged about a month ago with the understanding that he would need further surgery. When he was discharged he was gaining weight and things appeared to be on the upswing. He went for frequent check ups. He stopped gaining weight and the dr. admitted him today.

We don''t know exactly what happened, what caused this decision--my neice and her husband have kept A LOT to themselves and I understand and respect their decision to limit what they tell the family. They have alluded to special equipment when the baby was released, but nothing specific. The last thing I wanted to do was be intrusive. We are a big family and she has been communicating with all of us via the internet. This is about all i know at this point.

Poor little sweetie. A very good friend of mine is having similar problems with her baby. Babies are fighters. They say that a baby will live though and thrive with conditions that an adult would not. They are little miracles. He will pull through. I will keep him and your neice in my thoughts and heart.
