Before I purchase this diamond, I'd like to run it by you people.

My funds will clear in about 2-4 days (sold some stock and e-trade takes forever). I've gone ahead and marked out some of the identifying numbers on this report. Please don't try and figure out which vendor or diamond it is and call me out on it. :D I'm worried about someone swooping in and buying it before I can, that's all.

The asking price is $10,400. Note the medium fluorescence (both a price-saver and a nice feature for me... and I'm hoping her). There's also either a cloud or crystal on the table; it's hard to make it out among the image compression artifacting here, so I'm hoping it's minor. The other inclusion is right at the left edge of the table there; hard to make out on the plot. When I plugged this into the HCA calculator, it was comfortably under that 2.0 mark.

Thanks for your help and discretion.

Okay, pricescope doesn't like my flickr img tag. I'll put the link here, which is better because it's more readable:

Here is the pricescope upload of the image, which is unfortunately washing out the inclusion plot. Use link above for a better image.

I think it looks promising and I doubt the inclusions are anything to worry about in a VS1. When you get it, just be sure to check that the fluorescence is acceptable to you in all lighting.

Thanks for your input. Does the price look reasonable ($10,400 USD)? I'm not sure if I should try and haggle them down. I've bought a car and a house before, but not jewelry, and I don't know how effective haggling usually is.

Edit: This price calculator I found says that this diamond would cost over 13k for an internet vendor price. I guess since that calculator doesn't factor in the medium fluorescence, that would explain the lower price. I'm thinking the price is pretty good, right?

It doesn't hurt to ask politely, but I doubt there's much room to negotiate if it's an online vendor.

Rather than use a price calculator, I think a better question to ask yourself is can you find a better deal elsewhere for a similar stone with vendor policies that are more acceptable to you?
