I know this is a diamond website, but I also know that you seem to be a strong community of people who care about so many different issues. As I write this, there are people who are STILL ALIVE and who have been trapped under rubble in Haiti for over FIVE DAYS. They are still texting, still making phone calls, and still showing other signs of life requesting help. Some of them have been in the dark with no food or water for five days now.

So please, send your thoughts, or prayers, or whatever you believe in that the courageous rescue workers will be able to get to some of them in time. I cannot imagine what it must feel like to be trapped for over 120 hours in these (or any) situations, but they need help. Since we cannot help to dig, please continue to keep the people of Haiti, especially those who have a chance at survival, in your thoughts and prayers.

I can''t imagine the horror of what is going on right now over there. These people must be terrified. I was watching it on the news and the people still have such faith. I am in awe of the strength of these people. I also heard something about aid planes being refused landing because Hillary Clinton was coming for a visit?

Still continuing to hope and pray. Still glued to CNN.

I thought you were banned for the day? I FINALLY managed to shut it off. Now, it's time for me to do she same thing with my computer. On a bright note, some of my family came in today from Haiti and I am so happy to see them. I hope more people get to see or hear from their families soon.

Don''t tell my husband

He went to work and said "Turn off the news!" But I can''t. I''m so glad your family is safe and sound.

Thank you so much, PinkAsscher. I have to say, the other Haiti thread gave me a lot of comfort and hope. I ventured into another thread to get my mind off of things for awhile, and I am amazed at what that seems to have turned into. It is easy to be turned off by angry comments and people attacking each other's ideas. But then I think of all of the positive comments that I have seen in the Haiti thread and others, and I think that PS seems to be such a supportive group that I might stick around. Regardless, thank you for all of your kind words.

ETA: And your CNN secret is safe with me.

Try to give yourself a little break every once in awhile, for your own sanity!

Still praying, still hoping. I also donated money to the Red Cross. Should be Studying, I can't imagine how hard this has been for you. I am so happy to hear some of your family is making their way to you . That's got to be great news indeed.

This is just heartbreaking.....

Sometimes things get a little... heated. But you''re right the Haiti threads have generated a lot of positive energy which is great. Please do stick around, your views are very interesting and constructive.

Thank you so much, Kaleigh. People keep asking me how I am doing, and of course I am sad for my family and for the entire country. But I am thankful that all of my immediate family is safe, and it was SO AMAZING to hug my cousins once they came in.

My worry and sadness doesn''t compare one tiny little bit to what everyone there is going through.

Everyone who has donated is giving these people a chance. Thank you for your prayers and concern. I am sure there will be more miracles to come

There are many people who care about the people in Haiti. Praying for help to reach them. I think I am also going to take a news break for awhile.

Should be Studying, so glad to hear your family is well and with you. My thoughts are with all those still in trouble in Haiti.

part gypsy--I hope your FIL has heard good news regarding some of the people from the orphanages you mentioned in the other thread.

kama_s--Thank you. I feel so lucky to have some of them here and safe.

On the good news front, I did see a bunch of kids were flown to their adoptive families.. These families were already approved and then their hopes were dashed once the earthquake hit, many of their papers under the rubble. But some how these kids left Haiti, and are now with their new adoptive families.

Their smiles bright, a thousand watts bright. And the hugs that embraced them ?? HUGE...

Now there are many NEW orphans. How to help them, which agency should we donate to?

Kaleigh, I just saw this! It makes me so happy to see. Their smiles were so heartwarming. As for the new orphans, I will do some research to find out about organizations that will help. I don''t want to list anything without being informed.

Sorry for the late reply on this. Their faith is amazing, isn''t it? I am in awe as well. I guess for so many of them, that is all they have left.

I heard something similar about the aid planes. I am not sure, but I really hope that rescue workers were able to make their way in, because every minute counts with this situation. People are able to get in by ground from the DR, so hopefully rescuers still had a way in.

I pray each and every day for these people, and the others that have suffered through this. We watch the updates religiously at home. I hope nothing for the best for this country right now

My prayers and thoughts continue to go out for all those affected by this tragedy.

SBS - I''m so glad that you have your family with you.

I''m so glad the red tape is being handled and that the orphaned children in Haiti who had adoptions in process are getting to their homes.

PinkAsscher--so am I, especially because this had the potential to delay the adoptions.

jjc--Thank you, I am happy to have them. There are still so many who are there, helping to search for people and do what they can, but it is great that some of them are out of harm''s way.

I heard the aftershocks were horrible yesterday, and the violence is starting to rise.

I hope things don''t get too bad, because I don''t know how much more the country can take.

I really admire the volunteers and rescuers in Haiti right now. It must truly be h*ll on earth there right now.

Hi, all!

I just read some articles on cnn.com about the adoption of the newly-orphaned Haitian children, and they reminded me of this thread:

http://www.cnn.com/2010/LIVING/01/21/haiti.adoptions/index.html

http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/01/21/haiti.adoptions/index.html

(Sorry, I don''t know how to make links). As far as children who were already in the process of being adopted, I know that over 80 children were brought into Miami about 2 days ago. They are on their way to their new homes!

I agree. They are so brave. Thank God for all the people who have rushed down there, and for all the people who will continue going down to help. I give them so much credit, because it is definitely not easy, to say the least.

I had to share this story:

Wow! What an amazing child.
