Hello all you diamond lovers!

Please check out this AGSL report # 404051732026. This 1.4 carat, VVS2. F color diamond scores AGSL IDEAL 0 for cut, symmetry, light performance, polish, and IDEAL for Fire, Brightness and Contrast and Overall Performance.
Would you buy this Lab Diamond even though the girdle is thin to slightly thick and the lower halves are only 74% ?

Thank you all so much for your opinions!

Beautiful specs and images (even if computer generated)!
I would have no hesitation for an AGS000 with these proportions and angles.

Thanks for your comment...In the past I have posted information on a diamond and then.....POOF....they are gone! I have lost out so many times!

Here is another diamond with NO images.......IGI certification as follows:
Hearts and Arrows
Table............56.5
Crown...........35.4
Pavillion.........40.6
Depth%.........61.8 (15.5%/42.5%)
Girdle.............Medium faceted
1.36, F, VVS2 Ideal cut, EX symmetry, EX polish.

Would you please comment on this stone? I love fire and thought this might be good
because of the 15.5% crown height.....is the 42.5% lower percentage a negative?
THANK YOU!

PS...I thought I would order 2 stones and see which I like best,,,,that's why this second stone.

The numbers can absolutely work:
The 42.5% pavilion depth may indicate that some of the angles are actuals in the range of 40.4-40.5°, and then the averaging and rounding is applied. As long as the optics are good, then the pavilion depth isn't a concern...my wife's latest has a 40.6/34.5/55.5 combo with a 42.5% pavilion depth, 15.5% crown height, IGI with H&A designation, and it has a perfect ASET result. Her diamond is a fire breathing monster! :)

Thank you DejaWiz. One more question......is there a way to calculate the stars and the lower halves with the specs on the second stone?

WOW,,,isn't she lucky! I want a fire breathing monster too. Thank you so much for your time and information...

I sincerely appreciate it!

Not really: you'll need to see lots of pictures, videos, or (ideally) Ideal-Scope or ASET images to get an idea what the stars and lowers are.

You can see if there is a vendor video available by tacking on the grading report number (starting with the LG) at the end of this URL then take a screenshot of the diamond straight-on and post it (so you don't reveal the grading report number).

I would absolutely buy this diamond. No issues with the girdle, and the 74% lower halves are a plus for me--it's going to produce broader, chunkier flashes of fire.

This one is nice too, but I prefer the proportions of the other one as they are closer to Tolkowsky ideal.

Do you mind my asking what are the stars and lowers on your wife's fiery diamond?

4Sophie, did you see this AGS stone--404051726014? It has a whopping 15.7% crown height and will almost certainly be a fireball.

I haven't seen it..is it a stone for sale somewhere on the internet?

Not at all - I estimate 50% stars and probably 76-77% lowers.

DejaWiz, Here is another AGS report. Could you please look at the ASET image and all the specs on this stone? I am wondering what is the significance of the blue "contrast" ring at the base of the blue arrows? Does this mean that there will be black areas visible toward the bottom of the stone around the culet? THANK YOU!

That's probably table reflection causing a little extra contrast. Not necessarily a big deal at.
Looks to be a beautiful diamond!

OK! THANK YOU SO MUCH,,,would you say that I would be safe with any AGS 000 diamond? I am also wondering, the girdle says thin to slightly thick, 1,9% to 4.2%. Is this really OK? Does this mean that the "thin" edge will be susceptible to chipping or cracking?

Hello again....I just found it! THANK YOU

Safe with probably 90% of them for the various combinations of PA/CA/TW withing the AGS000 criteria...and this one is definitely safe.

Thin to Slightly Thick is just fine.
When you see Very Thin (durability concerns), or Very Thick or Extremely Thick (wasted carat weight) is when you should take a pause and perhaps look at other candidates.

Hello, Kim. I put your "fireball specs through the HCA...it scores .7. Should I be concerned that this diamond might go dark??? Thanks!

Any well proportioned diamond will go dark in intense direct lighting...just the nature of diamonds.
No concerns about it scoring 0.7 - a little less than 1.0 is quite common for even true super ideal cuts with similar proportions and angles.

It used to be that stones with lower scores were better for pendants and earrings, but the HCA was revamped in the last few years, and that's more on a case-by-case basis now. I see no issues with this stone.

Do you have any concerns about the "chubby arrows or the 54%stars and the 75%

Kim, Could you please comment on the 56% stars with the 75% ;power halves? Aren't the 56% stars rather large and how will they affect the overall performance? Thank you.

You'll be fine with mid-50% stars and the 75% lowers coupled with the PA/CA/TW combo.
