Hi all-
First off, this website has been invaluable to me for research. So many thanks to all the experts and other opinions!
I just received my 0.73 carat, round brilliant engagement ring from Blue Nile. It''s in this setting:
http://www.bluenile.com/pink-sapphire-diamond-ring_4507?metal_filter=platinum&setting_filter=3stone&sort_select=LTHP&set_shape=
and looks gorgeous.
I did months of research, used the HCA, and finally picked my stone. Here are the details:
GIA report
weight: 0.73 c
color: G
Clarity: VS2
Cut: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
SYmmetry: Very Good
Fluoro: Strong Blue
Table: 56%
Depth: 61.4%
Crown angle: 34 degrees
Pavillion angle: 41 degrees
girdle: thin to medium
Culet: none
The stone cost me $2500, which seemed to be a hell of a deal.
In any event, it looks perfectly white. However, I can''t get over the fact that it doesn''t quite sparkle as much as I would''ve thought. It scored a 1.3 on the HCA scale and scored within the AGS ideal range. Now granted, I was using my kitchen light to view it, so I took it outside (it''s partly cloudy). I was worried about the strong blue fluoro, but can''t really see any oily/milky appearance. In the natural light it sparkles more, but it just doesn''t blow me away. Am I using the wrong light to see how much this thing can sparkle?
Am I just being too picky here? Years ago, I bought a similar stone that was an AGS0, G color, SI2, and I seem to remember it sparkling more.
BN has the 30 day return policy, but I don''t know that I can justify returning it and being able to find something better for a similar price.
Anyone have any advice?
