Hi,
Like a lot of posters, I''m grateful for all of the info and advice in this forum. After spending a few months researching, I finally bought what I think is a great diamond from Excel:
1.15, I color, VS2, GIA excellent cut, polish, & symmetry; HCA = 0.9. Brilliancescope measurements are very high, very high, and high-to-very high. GIA report, and IS and ASET images can be found here:
http://www.exceldiamonds.com/Loose_Round_Diamond-143/Loose_Round_1.15_Carat_I_Color_VS2_Clarity_diamond-356636.html
The spread of 6.81-6.86 seems comparable to many 1.2+ diamonds.
Barry was extremely helpful, prompt, and courteous with answering all of my questions. He obviously knows what he''s doing, and he didn''t try to upsell me or use any high-pressure tactics.
The diamond is very white and looks better in person than the photo on the Excel website. It was $5,200 delivered. A local jeweler I may have make the setting (for an engagement ring) commented that it was a beautiful stone that I purchased for less than his cost.
I''ve continued searching this site, including JA and other recommended vendors, but I have yet to find a better stone in this price range for the size, clarity, and light performance. I have some concerns with dropping down to SI1 clarity or J color, but I''ve searched for those, too.
Taking all of the above into account, I''d appreciate a gut-check from some experienced pricescope posters. I only have a few days left to return it, but I''m strongly inclined to keep it unless you can identify some issue with it I haven''t considered.
Thanks for indulging my OCD.
