yeah?

What do you think they are, french cut maybe? What else could they potentially be?
So, do you think they will be dull/ no good? Keep in mind they are less than 10pts each..

Strm, you still around?
Do you think they are square baguettes, is there such a thing?..
Are you suggesting a pass, or not enough info to call it? I like the look of it, but wanted some opinions on the cut quality..
thanks for your time

Aj...

They seem like square[s baguettes] (with lots of extra facets on the corners down through the pavilion corners)..., could give the illusion of Asschers..., look inside the circles on the corners...., most corners meet in the setting...

They are definitely NOT French-Cuts!

Ill try posting the image again..., if it doesnt work..., just try downloading it.

Hey Diagem
cheers for the info - sorry, I originally meant baguettes

I hope she doesn't mind, but I borrowed a pic from LTP (thanks Lauren!) of her sapphire square baguette ring - is this what you mean, or would you say they are not that well cut? Sorry if I'm being a pita!

hard to tell without better pics but there is noticeable variation in the l/w of the stones in the ring which isnt a good sign.
I would be inclined to pass unless much better pics prove otherwise.

Hope no one minds, I have bought this thread back up for the purpose it was around originally - helping me buy an OEC!
I have a couple more candidates I would love if ppl could critique..as usual, pls excuse the quality of the pics, its the best I can do with what they have.
I have asked for better ones, but the seller seems to be just plain lazy

I know exactly what ring thats from! I don't know what to say to you though, because I love ALL OECs... if I had 1600 I would get it :)
17.gif

(actually I thought of getting it and selling off the smaller diamond to offset costs, or just setting it into a bezel pendent)

Yes, exactly what I was thinking. I just wish the seller was more communicative

- would you mind to edit your post a little, I'm trying not to give the game away to lurkers too much , KWIM? maybe the price?thanks !

Hiya AJ!

I think it looks like a beauty. What''s the weight? (rough weight--no need to be specific--or rough diameter? It looks like a good size stone! I''m sure the OEC peeps will chime in soon. I hope you find what you''re looking for soon, dear.

Thanks Coats - They''re actually 2 different stones - the first one is ~0.8, the 2nd about 0.5ct. I am also considering a transitional, but which is abit more expensive..

So I''ve bought an old cut...(hears collective sigh of relief from other posters, lol)..Its not one of the ones in this thread, so all will be revealed soon..
thankyou for everyone''s help in this thread and elsewhere with my search, esp. Grace, LGK and Strm for your knowledge on these stones.

Cross your fingers for me, hopefully its a winner!

that band looks like carre cuts to me instead of asschers.

Oh goodness, congrats AJ!!!

Am happy for you - hope its the winner that you deserve

!

I agree that the band style ring has diamonds that look like carre cuts.

AJ, while I adore OECs, I''ve been told that stones around 0.5ct and under don''t show the chunky facets very well - in fact, many people aren''t able to pick out the different facet pattern at a glance unless they know what to look for.

hey Kcoursolle, you are right they are carre cuts - I didn't realize that until later..

hey Gracey! Thankyou Honey! It is that transitional that I emailed you...do you want to tell me what you think here..?
1.gif

Hey Chrono, yes I think you are probably correct about the size thing (and about the carre cuts). The one I have bought is ~0.8, so hopefully it will be nice. Of course, I would've loved a 2ct, bau you know..I may have to be a homeless person with lots of diamonds in that case, lol..

here is a pic of my new acquisition..
hopefully it is gorgeous in person, should know in a couple weeks !

ROFL! you are too funny, I hope its really nice now or it will be a let down!
Unfortunately the stock market/exchange rate just keeps diiiivviinnnngg....but fortunately the seller offers layby

I will put a deposit down, then pay the rest once the economy improves.
So, long story short, I will be doing alot of dsitracting myself until I can finally get it, lol !

Now, wouldn''t you know, just as I finally choose one, another option comes along that looks pretty much like a freakin twin of SG''s stone , (but smaller)..
Can anyone say pendant?
What should I do Lozza.?
