Hi, thanks for all the insights last week. It turns out the 2nd RB diamond from BlueNile was not available for purchase any more. I found another viable candidate from eternitydiamonds.com, here are the stats again, please let me know your preference. 1st one is the same diamond A from BN.

Diamond A:
Carat weight: 1.70
Cut: Ideal
Color: G
Clarity: VS2
Depth %: 60.2%
Table %: 59%
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick (3.5%), Faceted
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 7.70 x 7.74 x 4.65 mm
HCA based on GIA: 1.0
Crown angle: 34.0%
Pavilion angle: 40.6%
crown depth: 14.0%
Pavilion depth: 43%

Diamond B:
Carat weight: 1.71
Cut: Ideal
Color: G
Clarity: VS2
Depth %: 60.5%
Table %: 58%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Excellent
Girdle: Medium, Faceted (3.5%)
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 7.73x7.77x4.69
HCA based on GIA: 1.7
Crown Angle: 34.0°
Crown Height: 14.0%
Pavilion Angle: 40.8°
Pavilion Depth: 43.0%
Star Length: 50%
Lower Half: 80%

Diamond A is $1,300 more expensive

Questions:
1) Is Eternitydiamonds.com as reputable as Bluenile?
2) I obviously like Diamond B's price and slightly wider size, should I be concerned about Polish (Very Good, not Excellent)?

Again, appreciate your reply! You guys are the best! Christine

BTW, I plan to do customized halo setting, so only considering loose diamond at this point.

Well, it looks fine by the numbers. The problem with both of these vendors is that they don't provide idealscope images or even magnified images. But the numbers are good and very good is okay for polish, so I probably would take a chance on B.

Between specs and HCA they both seem good.

Eternitydiamonds.com certainly is not as big a name as BlueNile, but many PSers have used them and been satisfied. They are (I believe) a drop shipper like BN, so no photos etc. That's how you save money buying from them though. As long as they have a written retrun policy that meets your needs there is little risk, especially with diamonds like the ones you selected.

Polish at VG doesn't matter. No worries.

The first stone is a 60/60 type and the second is a more traditional Tolk cut. That means the stones will have slightly different "flavours", with the 60/60 having a larger table, more spread out arrows in the center, and favouring white light return over colored light. THe second stone will be more balanced. Both have good potential, but they will be subtly different. Which you will prefer is personal preference, but yu will likely prefer on type of cut over the other. Can you see some similar cuts in person?

Thank you all!

I'm really torn, thinking about getting both stones and compare them side by side... Am I crazy??

Very useful infor for me.
