www.lichess.org

You don't even have to register, log in, agree to Terms, create a screen name, give any personal info, not even an email address.

Just go there, set the difficulty level from 1 to 10, and click on the box for "PLAY WITH THE COMPUTER".

This is too good to be true!

If you want to play online with humans I think you have to register.
Of course as an introvert, "I vant to be aloooone ... with the computer." ;))

I'm lovin it!

I assumed the best level for me to choose is the one resulting in me loosing half the games I play.
So I've done that for a few days.

But I just selected the highest skill level, at which of course I'll loose every game.
But to my surprise I've learned more in an hour than I did in the last few days.

Hmmmm.

Thanks Kenny. I just sent my dad a link to this. He loves playing chess but hasn't played for a long time now as there is no one left for him to play with. He doesn't have a computer though (so stubborn) but maybe he can play on his phone.

Thanks Kenny!

I'll have to check out this site.

One I came across a while ago is chess.com.

Not sure how it compares to the site you mentioned, but your description sounds like the same stuff on chess.com. What I like about chess.com (and a feature that is probably on the site you mentioned, as well) is the Learn section.
