We are shopping for wedding bands now and its kinda funny. I didn''t shop for an engagement ring at many places in person, mostly online and closed the deal in person picked out setting in person at one of the pricescopers shops.

Now I''m going through a number of different places to get a better feel of wedding bands.
I''ve been told opposing things from different places questions like...

"why would you want plat?" we say, to match the engagement ring, " ohh you don''t have to do that, you can mix"

another place, "what is the engagement ring?" Platnium, "then you''ll want to match that"

the sales staff at a bunch of these places are funny too. In fortunoff my fiancee tried on about 10 rings... guess what? every one of them "Ohh that looks fantasitic, perfect" it sounded sincere the first time....

One shop we found one my fiancee likes, its a .5 carat 5 stone shared prong ring, with the prongs in the center, so the stones look very round. set higher than most, more in line iwth the engagement ring, it looks nice, in plat they want $1600 for it.
Been back to the pricescope jewelers shop and I like the place. but they don''t seem to have something similar (this is before we found the one she likes), they seemed to have .6-.7 caret shared prong 5-8 stone rings more around $950-$1200, so more weight, less $$$.

I don''t understand why the .5 would be $1600 just seems out of line. Also, i was under the impression you have to match the engagement ring, or else one will wear the other away.
any thoughts?

Have you discussed it at the shop where you bought the engagement ring? After you do your shopping around, you might want to get their opinion, also.....

My bet is that you could have the shop you bought the e-ring at make the wedding band to your specs. I would prefer that -- you''ll get just what you want, and you can select the stoens to your specs.

I would match the e-ring metal. White gold will start to yellow over time. You can re-dip it to keep it white, but it seems like more trouble than it is worth. I''d have them match so that they wil wear similarly.

Have you looked into Signed Pieces? Much more reasonable than Fortunoff, much higher quality stones and they''ll make the ring to your specifications in terms of both the weight and the number of stones. If you''re in NYC, you can go visit them and see the rings in person. Oh and i''d get platinum to match the ering.
