Platinum

Does anyone know what the hardest/ best Platinum alloy mix is? i.e 950 Platinum + 5% Iridium, Palladium, copper, Ruthenium etc?

I have been told that a 950 Platinum 5% copper mix is quite good. Would''nt the copper dull the colour of the platinum?

Do you know what copper does to the colour of platinum when alloyed 950Pl/5Cu as this seems to be the only alloy i have access to. I really want Ruthenium but cant get it in Oz???

Was it Copper or Cobalt?

I didn't think Copper was a common alloying agent for Platinum anymore. Any of the Plat people have any info on this???

Rich, just a correction to your post. Pscope member "platinumdiamond" is not Jeff Truitt, the owner of diamondsunlimited. As far as I know Jeff hasn't posted on this board. Platinumdiamond's name is Mark and has bought platinum rings made by Jeff Truitt.

Looks like copper alloy gives good hardness -what about colour though???

The reason I am so concerned is that I MUST match the wedding band to the engagement ring. IF the colour is noticably different I'll not be a happy chappy

I am just a consumer here. I have never read anywhere about alloying copper with platinum but when it is alloyed with gold it makes rose gold. Perhaps you already know this, just thought I would put it in this post.

Someone just posted a pic of a ring made from 95% plat and 5% tungsten!! That sounds way cool!
