Thank you for reading my post.

I recently got a new diamond wedding ring set created in platinum. However, the ring looks more white in color then grey. Could there be a reason for this? I like my ring to be a bit more on grey side for the diamond to stand out. please advice. thank you.

Welcome to PS. 2 things - 1) you may want to ask the mods to move to Rocky Talky as this could be better answered in that forum... and 2) if your rings are new they have not yet developed the patina that comes with platinum over time. The patina tends to give that grey look to the metal.

Here is a good starting point link for you:
https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/engagement-rings/precious-metals-used-engagement-jewelry . There are other links from that page. A lot has been written on PS about the different metals that you will find very interesting! Enjoy!

thanks so much Enerchi. thanks for teaching me about patina, i had never heard of it until today. thanks again for brief description, it makes a lot of sense now.

Can platinum ring develop natural patina if it's not warn but kept away in ring box?
