I"m having a custom designed, combined wedding/engagement ring that will be approx. 8-9 mm wide with a center diamond and several bead set side diamonds. Ring size is 5. I want platinum but have become a bit concerned about the additional weight in a ring of this width. What do you think of hollowing the platinum to reduce the weight? This has been suggested by the designer as an option. Will it hold up as well? Thanks for your thoughts.
