Platinum Finish, Patina & Wear

Just thinking of the different finishes of Platinum rings that are available, I was wondering if certain finishes will "age" more gracefully than others into the patina look (less obvious scratching and wear until the even patina is developed). In particular, polished vs. satin finish, which will look best during the in-between awkward stage? Does one look more scratched than the other? Any opinions?
