Hello! We are looking for an engagement ring which is platinum and with one diamond stone in the middle. The proposal will be on the 30th of this month (October). I have a budget of $1000 but if anyone could help me out on finding this kind of engagement ring much cheaper that would be fine. Please do help me on this. It''s so confusing on choosing the right kind of ring but I want something simple but elegant that''s why I chose Platinum with diamond. Thans so much for the Help.

You didn''t post a lot of info about what you want, shape color, etc...but here''s an idea...

www.ebay.com

Do a search for item number 120477414568 - platinum six prong ring for $299

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6164/

Diamond $567 (less if you do a bank wire)

Unfortunately, platinum is VERY expensive, and many platinum solitaire settings are over $1000 with no center stone! So there''s really no way anyone is going to be able to recommend a diamond and platinum setting for much under $1000.

Brain Gavin Diamonds has a .42 H SI1 diamond for $756. and a .43 I SI1 for $690.

You just have to think outside the box a bit

. Pawn shops, ebay, ask around to local scrap metal shops (I''ve bought pocket watch fobs for just a bit over scrap prices before they were melted down).

I concur! You can find some great deals. But read up on the diamond education this forum has to offer. You will need to judge by your eyes so invest in a good loupe and carefully review return policies before you purchase anything. Many pawn shops are very reputable and can be checked thru the BBB. Good luck!

Those with the right knowledge, tools, and plenty of time certainly can find bargains. I''d love to hunt for some if I ever have spare time! However, many girls would want a new ring for an engagement ring, and it might not go over well with her or her family to give her a used ring.
