I have just purchased a Platinum e-ring from Whiteflash. I am very happy with the ring and the ACA diamond is just beautiful. However, I am more than a little concerned that I have ordered the ring at least a whole size too small! (I have compared to some of her other rings)

I am based in the UK and sending it back to WF doesn''t seem a good option, although I will speak to them later.

I really want it to be perfect when I propose, so I''m wondering about the implications of getting the ring size increased before I propose? If then, for example it''s a half size too big after re-sizing, does it affect the integrity of the ring to get it re-sized again? I know I will pay twice, but I''m really keen for my GF to be able to wear the ring straight away.

Please help

Bring a ring she wears every day (or one thats the same size) to the Jeweler, get it sized to that. Make sure it''s a ring she wears on her left hand.

Platinum can be harder to resize, so try to do it once if you can, rather than twice.

As most women''s casual non-engagement ring jewellery is usually inexpensive fashion jewellery or inherited family items - these rings do not always fit well hence I would not recommend re-sizing a ring at this stage based on such imperfect measures. Similarly, each finger of each hand is a different size so unless she wears a ring on her left hand ring finger which you can use, you will likely be over-estimating if you use a ring that she wears on her right hand (assuming that she is right-handed, the fingers on the doing hand are usually larger than on the non-doing hand!).

Also, unlike casual rings - an engagement ring needs to fit snugly otherwise the diamond (assuming you have a solitaire) will keep tumbling from side to side or even spinning around if the ring is loose.

Hence, I would advise waiting for the resize till you propose as one size too small is not usually a problem
