platinum and white gold rings together?

Hi folks,
I''ve been trying to gather some info on platinum vs white gold rings - I have searched and found some great information on this forum. I am wondering if a white gold enagement ring would look fine next to a platinum wedding ring - does anyone have any experience with this? My concern is that over time they would not look the same anymore - but I don''t have any platinum jewelry now to check this out. Over time will the rings look different?

From what I have read (and I could be totally off base), platinum lasts longer than white gold and discolors less. So I thought for a wedding ring it would be good because it would look good for a longer time? I also read it is softer and bends easier - how likely is it that the ring would get bent out of shape?


Since the metals look very similar to me, I am hoping your input will help me figure this out! Thanks so much!

From what I have read on here, it is generally not recommended to pair a wg ring with a platinum ring. I do think they would look different aside from the wear issues. Here is a chart to explain the pros and cons of wg vs. platinum.

I have a platinum ring with two wedding bands on either side which are white gold. My wedding rings have a lot of detail on them, so any marks from the platinum would not really show up. My jeweler did mention that the wg could be scratched, etc... by platinum but in my case it''s not an issue. I do know lots of people who have a mixture, and it seems to be fine. I think if it were a huge issue, then jewelers would try to dissuade you from mixing the two, so I would say that it''s probably safe to do so in most cases.
