With a relatively small half-bezel around a .75, the platinum color doesn''t offset the 18kt yellow gold as much as I thought it would - almost looks like a two-tone with similar color to each other. The platinum head looks a little dull which doesn''t make it pop as much as I thought off the gold. Is this normal with a pretty small platinum half-bezel head? Are there different shades to platinum or could the smaller size of the bezel just be playing tricks on my eyes!?

Wish I had a picture, but not yet!

Must be the size of the bezel or else the yellow gold is reflected in the platinum...platinum just isn''t yellow at all.

yes, the bezel is really small - i think i didnt anticipate the platinum to not stand out as much as i expected with such a small head. it looks more silver than white i suppose, but i guess the quantity of gold on a thick band with the small bezel can take away from platinum visually.

Can the color of the platinum be controlled and buffed to a more whiter appearance after set?

Platinum and gold can be hand buffed to a high polish with a sunshine cloth. Follow this link:

I think it''s the polish on the 18kt yellow gold. I wonder if I have the polish removed and do a brushed finish if the platinum bezel will stand out more.

Is the Tiffany Etoile yellow gold done in a brushed finish?
