I don''t know where to post this, but on average (or what would be a range) of selling 14-15 grams of platinum... 7 grams? I''m trying to decide if it''s worth it just to get a new setting all together or to spend the money to repair the e-ring and w-band..

I do know that the plain platinum band that is 7.5 grams was purchased in 03 for $1250 if that helps..

Platinum today is about $1200 per ounce. There are about 31.1 grams per TROY ounce, as the trade does not use avoirdupois ounces like the post office or recipes for cooking do. $1200 divided by 31.1= $38.58 per gram at full spot price. Now, most platinum is 90 or 95 percent pure, not 100%. There are various discounts taken by refiners and buyers. I think you may count on around $25 to $30 per gram as somewhat realistic. There definitely are buyers who will offer you less and maybe someone will like it for more if they could plan on re-selling the item you want to scrap.

$30 x 15 grams= $450

Easy enough.

Thank you! This helps a ton!!!!!!!!!!!!!
