Ok, so I am in a place where I really need an outside opinion and I think my mom and friends are tired of all my requests for their opinions, so I figured where better to go that to the lovely people of PS!!!! ļ

Here is where I stand. I really love the idea of a ring that from first glance looks like a simple RB solitaire, but at closer inspection, it has little details that make it unique. I am looking for a ¡§classic, but unique¡¨ look.

Here is some info going in:

- I love clean lines, but I also like the vintage/antique look
- I would like to wear a plain wedding band with my erring and one day add an anniversary band that is an eternity ring.
- I would like the wb to sit as flush as possible to the erring and the size I like for that band is about 3mm
- I am looking at 1.25 carats, unless the setting goes much past $2K, then I may have to go a bit smaller, but ideally no smaller than 1 carat

So, I need input and feedback on which elements would look best. Obviously, I am going to have someone design this ring for me. I am currently considering the following: Leon Mege, Mark at ERD, WF and some people have suggested mark Morrell, so I will have to look into him as well. I want to have a better idea of what to tell the designer I like and since I am still deciding, I think I should wait to talk to them directly about a specific design.

PLEASE HELP!!!

I am going to add the photos and the links of the rings I like and let you know which elements I like best¡K

FIRST
Here is a link to Leon. I really like the collar of diamonds around the stone, but I am not a huge fan of the profile and I think I would prefer a different kind of shank¡K

SECOND
Here is a Mark Morrell link. The one is the 4th one down and called Jeni-NO46as.
I like the collar and the fact a wb would fit nicely with it, bit I am not on love with the entire look of the ring.

I also love the collar in this lineage BBB ring. I am also a fan of the trellis setting, but am not sure if a thick plain band will look OK w/ a plain wedding band...i am thinking its too thick...

I also LOVE the Leon solitiare. I love the delicate prongs and the thickness of the band. I am not sure about the profile, sicne I would like a band to sit as flush as possible. Plus, I would like to add a little something to it.

Do I add a collar of pave? or do I add a small design to the band?

another of leon''s solitaire

I also love the band part of this tacori ring. i think it really give it a vintage vibe. How would somehting like this look on the Leon soliitaire?

tacori band2.jpg

and finally, i do like the vatche trellis x-prong. i really like an xprong. But, again, this band is a bit too thikc to wear w/ a plain wb.

How would this type of profile look a/ a thinner band?

This is so hard!!!

My setting was made at Singlestone. They are all about vintage stuff & easy to work with. I've been singing their praises ever since.... Faye Cullen does vintage type settings, too--fun to look there for ideas anyway......

I like the tacori....

I don''t think you can get flush sitting rings with Leon''s ER''s. Wow, those are all so different, it''s hard to say. I really love MWM''s work, it flows so beautifully, but I''m not fond of the collar idea. I like the Tacori best of the choices as presented, but am having trouble picturing exactly what it is you are looking for when you say you like just the shank. All are beautiful. Sorry, not much help here. The X-prong looks boring compared to your other choices.

The Leon you posted in the top post is one of my personal all-time favorite settings anywhere....

. what I mean by the shank is the band part of the tacori. it has a modest design that makes it look vintage, but its not over the top w/ stonework.

I guess I am trying to decide between adding a collar or some sort antique detail on the band b/c i think both is too much.

and i am trying o find a profile i like that will allow a wb to sit as flush as possible...

Thanks KellyFish!!!

Fay has nice stuff and I will have to check out the singlestone site!!!

Do you think the tacori will look nice w/o the halo looking thing around the stone? and maybe with daintier, claw like prongs? I do love the sides of the tacori setting!!!

The Dream Weaver is here for you...

Dream=Leon. Period.

Have Leon make that ring for you...but have the collar..."donut" done in pave. You will get the best of the two you love as well as being able to custom fit the shank width. That will marry to that band. You can go with the cathedral shank or just a basket head.

Then for added bonus I would have a small pave stone counter sunk into the side profile of that wedding band...so it will carry on the pave look.. ever so subtle, and updated.

Now what is your next dream the Weaver can work on?

oops sorry...looks like this was your idea first...I just reread the thread. Well, creative minds..or genius's think alike. Lets go with the later, whatta say?

You are a Dream Weaver!!!!! So, you like the first Leon setting? It is really pretty, isn''t it? How do you think a plain band woild look on the fist leon ring (the one in the link)???

Or what about the leon solitaire, but with the band looking like the band on the tacori???

so many choices! what is a girl to do? I guess I just need 5 or 6 e-rings!!

And when you say "countersunk in the side of the wb", so you mean on the edge (like the jen aniston/ brad pitt rings), or on the actual "front" on the front of the band, that you would see? either way, its a cool idea!!!

I love the first Leon. I also love Kellyfish''s.

L''s for love.

you guys are awesome! i really appreciate your help!!

Mintve,

I think the first Leon is also the second Leon...isn''t it? Well, I have always thought that was the top view of the cathedral leon. Oh man it is yummy. Adding some pave on the donut...well, I think it would be icing on the cake...but not regular cake. You know maybe icing on top of cheesecake.
30.gif

Yeah, I was thinking of a side set stone in the band (similar to the Brad/Jen thing). But don''t think there is enough edge for it after looking again at your band. You see, I have my first stone given to me from my father and was getting it set into my ring...with the next stone from the other man in my life...hubby. It has me seeing little counter sunk stones everywhere. Sorry , I seem to have gotten you off track from your agenda.

Go with the style that makes YOUR heart go pitty patter. That will be the right one for you. Just stare at them long enough and you will hear the pitty patter. Can''t wait to learn what you decide on!! §

Whats the price on this in plat?

Well, with Leon, its hard to say exactly. He gave me a quote for the plain solitaire of just under $1600. For the first one, with the pave collar/donut, it was upwards of $3500 plus the about $400 for the melee, so about $4K!!! I asked him, in an email, about doing the one w/ the collar/donut with plain platinum sides/shanks and he never gave me a number for that, but I imagine it will be in the middle somewhere…under $3K, but over $2K…

so, my dream ring may just be in the budget :)
