If you could go on a trip to anywhere in the United States, where would you go and why?
What would you see? What would you eat? Nice B&B? Campgrounds?

I can't explain why, but I really want to go to Montana.

Maui, Hawaii. :saint:

The central coast of California.

San Luis Obispo, Eat at Big Sky, Cafe Roma and Buona Tavola.
Montana de Oro - camp, or go for a hike on the cliffs over the sea.
Cambria - Eat at Robins and stay on Moonstone beach and comb the beach for real moonstones, don't miss a stroll through the old cemetery.

It remains relatively unspoiled because it is a little to far for people with money from San Francisco and Los Angeles to easily get there or a weekend.

Here are some of my places:

a) Charleston and Beaufort, S.C., and Savannah, Georgia and some of the islands because we've never been and they seem intriguing;
b) New England in the fall because we did it once before and loved it, but would include Maine this time because we didn't get a chance before and feel like we've missed something great;
c) NYC in the fall because I love that place and fall is perfect. I want to eat at Le Bernardin because I love fish and I have a crush on Eric Ripert;
d) Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks because we haven't been there and we love being out in nature;
e) Santa Fe, New Mexico for the food; and
e) all the National Parks in Utah, plus the Grand Canyon because they are some of the most amazing places on earth.

I love SLO, Morro Bay is a lovely place and not too far, and Hearst Castle too. I agree on the area. If I were to move back to Cali, Santa Barbara would be the only acceptable locale.

1) Tennessee deep into the blue ridge mountains in the fall, and also go back to Mt. Mitchell in NC when it's snowing again
2) Savannah because I want to see it
3) I want to do an airboat tour in the swamps of Louisiana
4) Back to West Texas
5) NYC because I've never been
6)Carmel California, because I loved the atmosphere. I'd also like to go back to San Simeon to Hearst Castle
7) San Francisco for the food
8) I want to go see the Redwood Forests in CA
9) Oregon coastline to see wild orcas
10)Yosemite. I had a friend who died there while rock climbing. One of his friends has a swing made from a climbing harness. It's a bit of a requirement that I go test out said swing. It swings out over the side of a cliff.
11)Alaska to see the glaciers
12) Montana to herd cattle
13) Wyoming. My dream is to ride running with the mustangs.
14)Wisconsin for the cheese.

Just remember to go to the pretty parts - i.e. western Montana. Central and eastern MT are kind of ugly.

I want to go BACK to Hawaii. And never leave. I would also like to see Alaska.

Princess, my parents are in Bozeman right now! I'm jealous - I wish they would still take me on their vacations.

I really want to go to Washington and Oregon. I've spent a bit of time in Washington, but the only time in Oregon was during a business trip. DH hasn't been to either and I'd love to visit them with him. I just love the mountains and the cities and the culture.

I'd also love to take DH to see the Rock Mountains! I'd love to go back to Colorado, or maybe another state in the area (my parents said that Jackson Hole is great).

So many places!

I've always wanted to go to Alaska because the pictures make it look so pretty.

There are a lot of places I'd like to see, but at the top of my list is Hawaii. I WILL get there someday.

Other than that, I've always wanted to go to the Carmel area of California, and I'd love to go back to San Diego and Santa Barbara. I love those two cites.

I'd love to visit one of the Great Lakes and rent a house on the lake somewhere. I can't get any more specific than that because I have no idea exactly where I'd like to go or which lake I'd like to see. Anywhere right near the water would be fine by me.

My family, my husband, and I went to Key West 1.5 years ago. It would be fun to see the other Keys some time, too.

ETA: I forgot about Savannah. We never got to GA when we lived in the south last year, and Savannah was on our list of places to see. Perhaps another time...

I forgot to add, we're not really campers, so we'd stay in hotels or we'd rent a condo at the places I mentioned above.

Rainwood -- New England is a MUST see for everyone, at least once, and fall is the perfect time to visit! Maine is beautiful -- lots to see and do.

I want to go to Alaska. I'm thinking about it for our next vacation, actually. We've gone on 4 international vacations in a row so it's time for a US one.

Napa Valley and Sonoma! Lake Tahoe - my very favorite. Also, anywhere there are lighthouses, especially in NE (Maine comes to mind)

Zoe, you should go to the upper peninsula in MI! Half of my family is from there and it's so beautiful. Especially with Mackinac Island so close by. I love the Great Lakes area.

Nantucket Ma

North East Harbor Maine

Del Ray Beach FLA

Carmel CA

Santa Barbara CA

Chicago Il

Philadelphia PA

Baltimore MD

Washington DC

Watch Hill Rhode Island

Colorado

The blue ridge mountains of Virginia..

Jackson Hole Wyoming.

Grand Canyon

Niagara Falls

Alaska, to go whale watching

Hawaii, to see the volcanos

Destin, FL

Gatlinburg, TN during Winter

Utah

Durango, CO

The Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas, to dig for diamonds!

GREAT IDEAS....I'm adding these to my list!

I would also love to go to Alaska, DH and I have talked about going many times, we just need to do it.

There are only a few states I haven't seen, but my favorite U.S. trip was our trip out to the Grand Canyon, then driving up the coast of California and ending in Yosemite. I liked that road trip more than either of our trips to Hawaii. The U.S. is so beautiful.

Actually... I'm not sure... I've seen all "must see" places (NYC, L.A., Boston, San Francisco, Niagara, Oahu, Aspen, Miami, Orlando, Mt.Rushmore, Yellowstone, Provincetown, Las Vegas....), and few days ago DH and I talked about our next vacation...well he wants to visit Georgia, and I'm more Alaska girl, I guess it's not going to be easy choice

I'm determined to visit every state before I leave this world. The USA is so varied and truly is beautiful!

El, I love Mackinac Island. It's been years since I've been there, but I have great memories of it and the fudge!

Hi All,
Of all the places in the US to go it would be New England in the summer or fall. New Hamphire, Vermont, and Maine. Its Gods country. If you ski, winter is good as well. To me the most beautiful place in America.
Thanks,
Annette

Glacier National Park

Yellowstone

Grand Canyon

When visiting our dealers, I get to see various places in the US, and I am always amazed at the diversity. As such, there really are a lot of places to like.

As a city, I really love Chicago.

Minneapolis/Saint Paul is a truly hidden gem, if you ask me. I am especially impressed by the great food-places there.

And nature-wise, Oregon is my favorite.

Live long,

Wanted to add, I really really want to go to Colorado.

I'd love to spend a week in a cabin in the mountains. One of those calendar photo views you know? Idk exactly where that would be but it sounds amazing!

Yosemite

Crater Lake in Oregon

Bryce Canyon to see the hoodoos again

At each park, I'd be most likely to stay at one of the lodges in the park.

My parents and my sister went to Mackinac Island years ago, but I couldn't go for some reason. They loved it. I'd love to visit someday!
