Well I was about to go to sleep when I took another look at my inclusion plot that will be attached. It seems to me that the inclusion should be between the arrows. Then it occured to me that perhaps it is best to place the prongs inbetween the arrows in the slight leakage that is found where the facets are meeting (its a little late to remember if that is the bezel or the junction, but im going to venture the junction)

That also happens to be the same location as my cloud. Do you think it is too much or limiting the jeweler to request for him to place the prongs in between the arrows with one of them in the location of the cloud?

That would then allow the arrows to fire up in all of their splendor with out any disturbance, the prongs would be blocking an area of light leakage, and the cloud would have a partial coverage on it at least. Too much?

forgot this, and is that inclusion on the junction or the bezel? I guess I need the term so I can communicate better with them.

You cannot determine this from an inclusion plot. The actual stone needs to be examined to see where the prongs should be placed.

Talk personally to the stone setter and tell him what you think and he will advise you from there.

The facet is the flat part...... the junction is the joint or in the plot - the line. It looks as though your inclusion is actually ON an arrow tip, but it hits the upper girdle facet as well as part of the bezel or kite facet. Myself, I prefer prongs on the junctions so that the glits of light that come off of the bezel/kite facets is unubstructed, but the importance of that is largely placed on the size of the facets/size of the stone. In a tiny stone it really wouldn't matter. If the inclusion is black then you might want to put the prongs on the facets to cover it (I do agree with DS about talking to the setter who has seen the stone but saw you were looking for some definitions as well) but if it is a feather of some sort then the visibility of it all might not be an issue. I cannot speak on any structural issues.

The "arrow" tip actually goes under the FACET not at the junction. It isn't too much to ask them to put it on the facets but usually people want the prongs to frame rather than cover those nice big facets on the crown. If you are having 6 prongs then two would likely be covered anyway so there's an opportunity. Wtih four if you chose to cover the facet you will cover 4 facets.

Having a cloud wouldn't make me instantly want to put a prong therer though.... it would really depend on what the inclusion looked like with the naked eye. Myself I'd rather have one little cloudy area and keep the prongs the way I prefer, but black I'd want to cover.

i agree to talk with the jeweler, tell him what you think and what you think you want. he may be accommodating. you can only ask.

Alright, well the cloud is white, and it is supposed to be eye clean. I am not too worried but I thought it might kill too birds with one stone. However, if you are right and the cloud is above the arrow (I got myself confused last night i think

) then it would be reasonable to ask them to place the prongs between the arrows in order to frame the facets and thus allow for that little boost in performance right and appearance right? As far as talking to the setter, I assume we mean talk to the woman I am working with at JA right, not the actual setter?
(I imagien he would kill me for taking his time with a 300 dollar setting
