Yes, everyone is obsessed with pintrest! The question is; have you actually ever made anything you've seen on there? Thus far my two main projects have been boutonnieres for our wedding (inspiration taken from there, but not followed exactly) and a shoe rack made from crown molding (that was all DH). I did get a bunch of good ideas for the wedding that I tweaked, but the directions that I followed the closest were for those two things.

The boutonnieres were hot glued with fabric and tissue on a cut out piece of card paper and pinned on. The shoe rack was made using crown molding, but since we live in a 100 year old house that has plaster walls, DH attached the molding to wooden boards that he painted and attached to the wall. they are WAY nicer than the ones on pintrest and I can put a ton of weight on them (which he expected me to do) with all of my shoes. The picture is missing a few pairs :)

I've made a few recipes I've found via Pinterest. If I see something that looks good, I go and check right away to see the ingredient list and make sure it's a real recipe. I've been disappointed before. Disney's loaded baked potato soup and the knock-off Olive Garden zuppa toscana have been big winners. I like my soups to be a certain consistency so we modified both of these slightly:

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/01/carnation-cafe-closes-thursday-for-renovations-at-disneyland-park/ - I add a lot more broth otherwise it is crazy thick
http://www.tuscanrecipes.com/recipes/olive-garden-zuppa-toscana.html - we did 1.5 ingredients of everything BUT the chicken stock so it was thicker

We also turned a storage ottoman into hanging file storage based on some more expensive things I saw on Pinterest. I wasn't going to pay $400+ for an ottoman that had hanging file rails in it, so we just bought the hanging file things that are made for regular file cabinets and plopped one into an ottoman we already had--presto!

I've made several recipes (let me tell you, that one floating around that says "best buttercream frosting ever" IS the best at-home, low stress buttercream I've ever had), and a few of the beauty projects. The other weekend my sister and I made lip balm, lotion bars, and a sugar scrub and holy cow. My skin is so happy with me now.

I have made a ton of food from pintrest, all with AWESOME results! It is such a nice little recipe box!

Now I want to make lip balm and lotion bars! :twirl:

I have done about 3-4 dozen receipes. I have been pretty happy with all of them, minus 1! My absolutely favorite are the baked buffalo chicken eggrolls!

As far as home projects I have a board that has projects for toddlers and young kids. We have done a lot of stuff on there and it has kept us busy when my DH is away or when we have rainy days.

I also have used the birthday parties boards on there for inspiration.

I've made quite a few recipes from pinterest, all with great results!

As far as "projects" go, I mostly use pinterest for inspiration, but I've done quite a few things I've "pinned"...
~Taken the bifold doors off our entryway closet to have the beginnings of a "mudroom"
~Hung a (painted) chandelier in our laundry room
~Used a color scheme found on Pinterest as the basis for the paint scheme/decor in the laundry room
~Used 3 5x1 Expedit bookcases to make a more interesting layout than a standard bookshelf (the end one is turned 90 degrees so it faces to the side and leaves a solid side forward for calendars, etc.)

I've also found really helpful wardrobe inspiration, not to mention lots and lots of giggles.

We'll be doing a lot of DIY for my sister's wedding, so I'm sure that list will GROW sooner than later! Oh, and I have a couple bachelorette parties and bridal showers to throw coming up, so those suggestions have been helpful, too!

I've made tons of recipes and they were all hits! The biggest project I (DH) actually did was make a fort out of PVC pipe for our son. It was awesome!!! The other thing I've adopted is I have over the door shoe racks, the ones with pouches, in my pantry closet and linen closet. Perfect for cleaning supplies, such a space saver!

Yup; many recipes with mostly great success. The crescent roll sandwiches are now a staple at our house, as are the quesadillas.

As for projects, I've made two wreaths for work, and some other seasonal decor displays.

Used A LOT of inspiration from there for my wedding: hair, flowers, menu, color scheme.

At home, I've taken an old dresser/cabinet thing and re-finished it to use as a Beverage Bar in our kitchen, I decorated mugs with Sharpie for Christmas gifts this year, I made the burlap ruffle Christmas Tree skirt, and I am starting a total mud/laundry room renovation in which several projects are in the works, and I had a friend of mine build a new garden gate based on a picture for us.

My mom and I are working on a quilt pattern we found there as a baby gift for my sister. Many, many projects exist in my head...I just haven't gotten around to implementing them yet!

If I wasn't actually DOING the things I found there I would never be able to justify the TIME I spend looking!

Stacy, I LOOOVE your shoe racks! What a super adaptation -- elegant as heck & they must go so well with your antique house. Shouldn't everybody's shoe racks match their decor? ;))

I've pinned some recipes but I keep forgetting to try them. I usually use Pinterest to get ideas for work projects, but I haven't tackled any home decor types of things.

Your shoe rack turned out great! Good idea on painting the wooden boards as well, makes it all look like one piece. I think I will have to do that eventually because I love the idea of displaying my shoes!

My friend and I had a pinterest baking day last year for the super bowl. I made the taco cupcakes (turned out AMAZING, way better than I expected, and super popular), some football shaped appetizers, nutella puppy chow, and a cheese dip. She made chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake and bread loaf that was semi-sliced then stuffed with lunch meat and cheese. I think I have made various recipes from there too over the past year, but I just remember that one day.

I've made a bunch of recipes and have definitely gotten more use out of my crockpot after finding Pinterest. Most of them have been decent but there were a couple that weren't so great.

I've made a yarn and felt flower wreath for our front door. I made glitter pumpkins for Halloween. I made a welcome sign for our entryway using decals. I added a photo gallery to a shelf in our living room which was inspired by gallery walls/shelves photos on Pinterest.

I also just painted my bathroom walls with thick cream and beige alternating horizontal stripes (which looks awesome!) and the ugly dated oak vanity is in the process of being painted espresso brown, both of which were inspired by pinterest. My dad made some new updated shaker style doors for the vanity from some wood he already had. The whole bathroom project is going to end up costing me less than $100 and its going to look SO much better.

Next I plan to make some artwork using paint chips for our living room and some curtains for our bedroom. My friends and I are actually having a crafts and wine night at our house on Saturday and I'm sure many of the projects will be Pinterest-inspired

I got most of my wedding decoration ideas from pinterest, even made my monogram "guestbook" from a pinterest idea.

I've tried some great recipes too, and found some that hubby really likes.

StacylikesSparkles, your projects look great! Good job! :appl: Although inspiration is involved and maybe not every idea is original, there are definitely great crafty projects to make your own from copying Pinterest ideas.

I love that site. I've found so many recipes and used them, and pinned so many craft ideas and started them! My issue is that I see, I want, I start...I fail to finish.

I still love the site, though. I'm on it all the time. Like, I'll need a break at work and scroll onto Pinterest on my phone and get lost for five minutes pinning stuff. It's great because my 65+ year old (male) boss is also a self-described "pinaholic."

New Project:

I kept seeing these fabulous anthropologie inspired glasses on pintrest, so I got together with a friend to make our own. I love stemless glasses and she wanted to decorate her martini glasses. We will be making these as gifts closer to Christmas!

Our dots are a little more chunky, but I actually wanted it that way...too many fun colors not to show them off!

SO CUTE!!! Love the pink colors! :appl: What kind of paint did you use?

Thanks! Just regular acrylic paint and we 'baked' the glasses in the oven on 350 for 30 minutes, then let them cool completely to set the paint.

The glasses came out great, have you washed them yet? Are they dishwasher safe? I see these as nice Shower favors .
I just finished my Valentine gift for the DH from an idea on Pinterest I made a 52 reasons I love you book, out of playing cards. I posted it in the what are you giving /getting for V day thread the other day

Thanks, Elisa! I haven't washed them yet...actually, I left them at my friends to cool and I'll be picking them up on Thursday. I would say hand-washing would be best though.

What a cute project for your hubs!! :) Hope it goes over with tons of enthusiasm! :appl:

I haven't tried it yet, but I saw a project where you paint tiny dots on mason jars with glow in the dark paint. Leave them on your porch or anywhere outside, then they light up at night. Wonder how low "the glow" lasts. I'm going to try it this spring.

Sorry for the typo. Wonder how LONG the glow lasts.

I did the sharpie on ceramic project and I baked them for longer at a higher temp than many of the suggestions (there were a few variations). I tested them with handwashing and it held- but I wouldn't risk the dishwasher!

I tried these for my wedding; I think that picture is under a blacklight. My jars did glow, but with any kind of ambient light it wasn't really strong enough to pick out. I think it would be stronger if you crack open a glow stick, rather than glow in the dark paint, but the glow stick doesn't recharge. The glow in the dark paint does re-charge, though, and as long as it's really dark they will glow all night and then recharge again during the day.

Do you have a picture? The jars sound super cute, although if I make them, I will take your suggestion of popping open a glow stick. Now I want to start planning a fun summer party!

Sure! I didn't get any pictures at night, cause while the jars certainly glowed in my closet with the door closed, the ambient candles and twinkle lights outshone their best efforts!

I am having some people over this weekend, maybe I should bust them out for the porch and see if the stand out a little bit more without all the competition!

Avia, YES!!! Bring those bad boys out for a spin...and take pictures at night! Maybe it'll work this time lol

I have made quite a few recipes. In fact, I made one cake that is absolutely the best thing anyone has ever tried! My DH brought about half a cake to work with him, because I couldn't leave that thing alone in the house with me. The guys at the fire station are still talking about it! I am going to have to make a whole cake for them on Valentines day.

I found a pin that I followed to a blog called 320 Sycamore. This blogger makes Pottery Barn style decor. She has a blog on 2012 projects, and one is painting kitchen cabinets with super tough paint. We will be doing this soon!
