I'm new and I've read many topics seeing all sorts of information but most of all happy supportive people helping.

I am so lost. I found what I want to get for the love of my life. A 3 stone round e ring with pink sapphire center flanked with diamonds half the size. I want to buy a house a puppy a ring a trip to europe... all the while I'm not rich and don't know where to start here.

So I ask for your help for how to select find piece together this ring so my unknowing girl will no longer have to wait!

I've reasearched the stone itself that's as much as I know how to do.

Thank you!! Names Curran

Looking at ajs and multicolours selections of pink sapphires.
Not sure what a white gold setting for it would cost or a site to start my search on settings. Any ideas?

Also should I get a whole ring or a gem and setting?

Let's start with your budget. From there, you'll be able to decide how much for the stone and how much for the setting.

Can I spend 1500 and not have a crackerjack?

Yes, if you aren't aiming for something unheated or over 7 mm.

6mm ish heated

Ok ill start plugging away. Whats a price range for settings for my total?

LOGR will sell their settings separately; many PSers have purchased settings sans stones from there. He can also semi-customize it to fit a specific size or shape but it will cost more.

I like the $670 sapphire. what's a good place to find two 3 millimeter diamonds?
also I cant decide between round or pear

Check out Africa Gems for the diamonds.

Rocky Talky can help you get the sparkliest pair of diamonds on budget.

Dana's sale page has a 1.9 ct $490 pink sapphire (8.84 x 5.64 x 3.99 mm) and also a 1.34 ct $170 hot pink spinel (No, wait. I think the spinel is sold. It's hard to tell because of the way he has info positioned on his pages).

FWIW to you, Leon Mege has very strong opinions re side stones & he believes
A round stone with two pear shapes is one of the most elegant combinations of stones in a three stone ring category,
but hates seeing rounds used as side stones.

If you can comfortably afford to do so, you might consider pears that are a bit bigger than 3 mm. Print off this PDF because I think you may be surprised by the real life size of even a 4.5 mm pear:
http://www.thenaturalsapphirecompany.com/nscnet/pdf/stone mm dimensions.pdf

Another possible drawbacks to using pears: you may not be able to use a LOGR semi-mount (didn't see any semi-mounts for round center + side pear stones on my quick spin through their eBay listings).

Wishing you well!

I've similarly decided pears outline a center stone very well. Ill look for 4.5 ish then. Should I look into a custom setting or is there someone making pear n round 3 stoners

Ok the lighter round for 770 or the darker more colorful round for 670?

I'd ask GemFix if they can send you additional hand shots of both. (on my monitor, which admittedly is not well calibrated for colors, the flesh tone of the fingers with the $770 stone is weird enough that I doubt the pic is close to accurate).

I'm sure you can find a pear-sidestone 3 stone ring - have you checked Blue Nile, ID Jewelery or the typical engagement ring sources?

I'd call Andrew at Gemfix and ask him to take out both stones you are interested and compare them for you. He's really helpful in my opinion.

I would get a quote from DanielM on Etsy; he has competitive prices. You can see his work here on PS and on Etsy, Please look up his reviews on PS to see if you're comfortable with him.

Also wanted to mention that Jewelryhoo on ebay has a semi-mount that holds a 6mm round center & two 4x7mm pear sidestones for $400: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Three-Stone...t=Diamond_Solitaire_Rings&hash=item41751a55ba. You'd have to source your own diamonds, plus the cost to have the stones set, it will put you over the $1,500 budget assuming your sapphire is in the $700-$800 range.

And Blue Nile has a similar setting for $1,500 including sidestones (although I think there are ways to get a discount from Blue Nile): http://www.bluenile.com/pear-shaped-diamond-engagement-ring-14k-white-gold_20392. Again, with the center stone this is definitely over the original budget.

Would you consider a different style of setting? Something like this: http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-engagement-ring-white-gold_20306 or this http://idjewelryonline.com/product_info.php?cPath=42_43&products_id=10084&cType=ER would keep you closer to the total budget.

I think Daniel M is your best bet unless you are willing to do the legwork of finding your own sidestones. As for which sapphire, I would lean towards the $670 stone but best to ask Andrew since he can view and compare the two pink sapphires for you.
