Hi!

I'm currently re-thinking a ring that I was given by my now ex-husband  which I'll attach in a sec. It's a 5 stone U-prong diamond ring and I'm planning on having the 2nd and 4th diamonds made into earrings and want to replace them with either blue or pink sapphires to totally change the ring and enable me to wear it again as a RHR :naughty:

Which do you think would be a nicer look, the pink or the blue? I am going to see stones next week so obviously it'll depend on them, but what is your preference?

Thanks in advance! :wavey:

Excuse my yucky nails  The stones are 0.44-0.45 each all G-colour and Si1

I think that's a great way to "repurpose" your ring -- just bc he's an ex doesn't mean you should stop wearing such a pretty piece! ;)) I'm partial to sapphires, because I love the way the darker color makes diamonds pop! :))

I prefer the blue but pink would also work. See what looks better on your hand.

Both would look great in theory so I would decide with other factors.

Do you prefer one color over the other?

Do you wear a lot of pink?

Which looks best with your skin tone?

I think pink is more girly and blue more classic, if that helps at all. But really, either would work!

Either will be very pretty - I lean towards blue because I like the contrast with the diamonds and I wear a lot of blue - the pink combo is soft and feminine IMO, so a lot of this depends on your own personal style. Either choice would be lovely!

I love pink but I would probably go with the more
Classic blue.

I think the blue can be worn with everything. Pink, not so much.

Be sure they don't show you super dark sapphires. This vendor has some nice matched pairs, but you need to know the exact mm diameters of the diamonds you are replacing. Weight is not helpful as sapphires and diamonds are different weights in relation to size.

Agreed, pink would be pretty but blue matches everything!

I would definitely go with the blue. Blue sapphires and diamonds are so classic together. That being said, pink would also make for a beautiful ring especially if you wear a lot of colors that complement the pink. I can't wait to see your new ring!

I think both can be pretty, but blue may be more versatile.

BLUE! I agree with everything the other PSers have said and in addition will add I am biased because blue is my favorite color and it really does go with everything IMO. And to repeat what DiamondSeeker wrote make sure the blue is not too dark as to show up black and inky. Good luck and cannot wait to see what you decide.

Thank you all so much - I really value your opinions and it seems blue is an outright winner!! I do actually own the Tiffany Swing ring with pink sapphires so if I were to choose pink that would obviously go better, but I don't think I'd combine the two rings.

I'm so excited to get it done now - this ring has been lying around for three years now so it'll be lovely to see it flashing again! I definitely don't like the dark, inky blue diamonds and my guy know his stuff so hopefully I won't be shown any ;-)

I have GIA's for all the diamonds so know their exact measurements so should be able to match these two really well.

Can't wait to share and thanks so much all! :appl:
