Hi, I would like info. On where and what the cost of a pink diamond in the .30 to .40 range would be ? Thanks

At the vendor where I've bought 20 natural fancy colored diamonds pink ones from 0.30 to 0,40 ct, range from $7,200 to $41,500.
These all have GIA, Argyle or AGT reports.

http://www.fancydiamonds.net/pink_diamonds

This is a most reputable vendor with great service, goods and prices.
You can find cheaper pinks with questionable reports or poor color and clarity elsewhere but these are the real deal.

Comparing prices of FCDs is near-impossible.
Two FCDs with identical GIA reports can vary enormously in price.
It's all in how good it looks.

Leibish and Diamonds By Lauren both usually have pink diamonds.

It depends on the color range of the pink whether it is pure or has additional colors like brown or purple or orange added to it. Make sure it has a GIA lab report so you know it is natural color. The ones that show up the best in color is fancy intense in the pinks. Also what shape are you looking for?

I agree with DBOF - make sure it has a GIA report if it's an expensive stone.
When I say expensive, say over $2-3K for a .30-.40ct

If you're looking at a Fancy Intense Pink with no issues- it can easily go well above $20k- even for such a small stone.
If it's argyle, it could be double that.

Fancy Intense Pink is surely a great color- in many cases....but.....

The "but" is that sometimes adding modifying colors may have less visual impact than the price implies.
IOW,
Fancy pink Brown may look a 75% like a Fancy Pink- but cost only 20% as much

Also- just being "Fancy Intense Pink" in itself, does not guarantee a great looking stone.

Hi David,
Is it because of the shade? Or is it a brand issue?

Hi Yoram!
Interesting question.
There are dealers that say Argyle diamonds have something special over other "generic" pink diamonds.
I don't agree based on a lot of non argyle stones I've seen that were amazing.
But one thing is not disputed- the brand certainly brings a huge premium.
I've seen cases of two pinks of very comparable color, size, shape- one Argyle, one not.
The argyle stone is usually double the price of the non branded one.

Pure pink and purplish pink will generally be the same price -all other things equal. The purple modifier does not lessen the price. A brown modifier will decrease it substantially. A brownish pink will have slightly more pink than a brown pink. Both of those will show more pink than a pinkish brown or pink brown. The orange modifier will also decrease value-not as much as the brown modifier. And like Kenny said- even though diamonds may be called the same color, value will vary greatly depending on how they actually look in person.

But to give you an idea- I have been actively looking for pink diamonds in that exact size range. I have limited my search to Fancy Pink and Fancy purplish pink as the intense fancy got too expensive. The price range I have found for nice, clean GIA graded pinks with good color and clarity are ranging from about $8,000 to $12,000. I regret not buying a gorgeous Argyle that was around $10,000, but the timing didn't work for me.

although clarity is secondary to color, in the natural fancy color diamond world, 'Intensity of color' is very important.

as has been mentioned above it can dramatically change the price!

Question is florescence okay or not desireable?

It's really not a simple answer ALYSHA.
If we're discussing yellow diamonds, it's more straightforward- and for many reasons. One main reason is that yellows are far more common than pinks, so buyers have the luxury of being more picky.

Fluorescence is relatively common in pink diamonds.

although fluorescence is common in pink diamonds as Rock Diamond pointed out, the result of it can vary widely. I have seen pink diamonds with strong fluorescence lose all their pink color in sunlight. Alternatively, I have seen some (especially purplish pinks) get brighter and more purple in sunlight. You have to check each diamond for how the fluorescence affects it- or if purchasing online-ask them to check.

They can't answer that for you with only that limited amount of information. If you can post photos, that would help.
