Skylah - I think your reception site is the only really traditional ballroom/reception area that has made me think maybe I WOULD like one after all!
It is STUNNING!!!
Lizzie - is that by Lake Mead?? We went there a few weeks ago and it was sooooooooo gorgeous!! A wedding would look incredible with that as your backdrop!!!
Amant, Jcrow & KLavigne - I looove all of your sites too!!!
Here is an aerial shot of the jetty that the gazebo is located on... I think we''ll probably do the wedding in the gazebo so we don''t have to squint through the whole thing!
And here''s the close up shot (NOT a professional picture, got it from someone on the internet who got married here.) This is currently my laptop background... anticipation!
They are all beautiful, congrats to all of you ladies!
LizzieC, I was at a wedding last May at the Valley of Fire and it was amazing, really, really beautiful. When we were there it was 115 degrees, though. They were having a major heat wave.
thanks LizzieC & AmantdeChat! it''s the church where my mom and aunt got married in. i wish i had pics of the old oak tree that''s beside it- it''s over 450 years old, and gorgeous!!
i wish i had better pics of the recpetion site. they don''t have a website, so these were just random pics i took while at the place last december.

Here is a closer picture for you. They do look a lot alike, maybe they''ll let me paint this one white, I think I like that better than the black. But when it''s covered in flowers it''s still very pretty. hmmmmm......
BeaudryBabe- I''m so glad to hear from someone who''s actually been to a wedding at VoF!
May I ask what kind of shoes you wore? Was it tricky walking around the rocks? I''m trying to figure out what kind of footware is appropriate for me and the female guests. Regarding the heat-- we are having the ceremony in the morning, so hopefully that will help! And we''re hoping to keep it short and sweet and then get back to that A/C!
I wore a pair of sandals with low heals. It was a bit difficult climbing around the rocks so I would stay away from really high shoes. The rocks were way too hot to take the shoes off so make sure you choice shoes that will be comfortable or your feet will fry.
I don''t know what vendor you are using, but be careful, we were rushed, rushed, rushed by the limo drive and photographer. The brochure said that we would have a leisurely drive, stop for drinks etc, etc, but the limo driver drove us from the hotel to VOF at like 90 mph. Don''t let them do that to you.
My "site" is probably one of the few mobile ones...on this schooner in Gloucester, MA.
We''ll probably have the ceremony while under sail, and then will anchor in a quiet cove for the reception portion.
Our DW is at the blue waters resort which is on the northern tip of Antigua (can''t get any more specific b/c I don''t really know). You''re at the Sandals Antigua, right? We considered that location as well, I hope it really works for you! It seemed very lovely but we decided to go with the smaller resort since our last vacation was on a very large cruise ship.
Our wedding will be March 29, 2007 at the Grand Palladium Resort & Spa in the Mayan Riviera area of Mexico.... on the beach.
The ceremony site will look like this.... but we''re going to request pink, orange, or green bows on the chairs (depending on what colour I choose for the bridesmaid dresses... which is still undetermined!)
