Since today is "demantoid day" I decided to post pictures of my demantoid pendant - confirmed by GIA as Russian demantoid, with horsetail inclusions and unheated. Please keep in mind that most of my photographs were done at night and hard as I tried, I could not avoid shadow. IRL, it has no extinction and is all bright. Also, no yellow, very bright green. If any of my stones has "neon-like" quality to it it''s this demantoid. Just because of brightness.

I don''t know why it looks so yellow when uploaded.

Know why! It is the lamp - the paper underneath it is totally white IRL

It is much greener than in previous picture

Here is the stone looking on the table, far away from the sun and there are only a few rays coming into the room

Very, very pretty Crasru!

Now the light was horrible - hard as I tried I could not remove the "head " of the camera so it was semi-shade. There is no extinction; the blacks are shadows from the camera. And it is not yellowish nor is dark-blue; no secondary blue modifiers but it doesn''t look like a peridot either.
I had several to choose from. Some of them were darker and the color was better. But I sent them all to GIA and only this one came back as unheated (they were all sold as unheated). So I chose this one. The cut is round (the best!). It is very brilliant.

I am going to look through my files to give you the exact specs.

Here are the specs:

It is a 2.33 ct. natural Russian demantoid with classical "horsetail inclusions"; approx. 8.16 mm in diameter. Unheated. Set in a pendant with F-G diamonds. I asked for a larger bail because I wanted to wear it on an omega chain. Later I realized that omega doesn''t work well with it. Still looking for the best chain.

But I got what I wanted, I think. A beautiful very bright green stone, with perfect brilliancy and unheated!

A 2.33ct demantiod?? Holy smokes - that''s huge! Very nice color, and I love the pendant design. Can you wear the enhancer on a strand of pearls (or other beads)?

I can wear it on a strand of pearls because it opens in the back - but I do not have a strand of pearls! Or rather, I have two, of poor quality. And since I am not a pearl person, I am not going to buy pearls just for the pendant. Although, come to think of it, I have a strand of nice artificial pearls and I could use it.

Nice pictures!

Very pretty!

It''s beautiful!!

I wanna come play in your jewelery box some day!

OK, MakingTheGrade, let''s make a playdate. You come with your own jewelry box, too! Ice cream''s on me.

Beautiful stone in a beautiful pendant! Enjoy it!

Crasru,
Your photography is improving.

I can see some dispersion coming off the demantoid and it''s a lovely deep rich green.
