Who out there has a picture of a Regent Cut diamond in an Vatche X-Prong setting.

Looking for pictures of all angles. Actual ownership pictures would be better than fancy-schmancy marketing shots. I like to see the real deals, if you know what I mean.

I'm hoping that the X-Prong makes the rock appear more square than it does loose. I love the fire and brillance, but not crazy about the cushion shape.

Thanks for the help!

PS: I know this probably SHOULD be included in the "Show Me the Ring" section, but this is to help me with my purchase, so any advice will be greatly appreciated also.

No pictures here, BUT I can say that an x-prong with the prongs on the outside corners will make that look more square. It's true, I saw a lucere with that look and the lucida of course, and they look square because of the prongs.

I think that's a lovely stone, and there are so many more than ever in the Show Me The Ring folder...I love them, and frankly can't wait to own one!

Have you decided the Regent is the "square" stone you want for sure? Why did you choose it, out of curiosity? I knowsomeone mentioned that because of it's roundish shape it the most fiery and brilliant of all "shaped" stones. It truly is a wonder, that Regent!!!

Nicrez,

Johnathan @GOG recommended it after I informed him what I was looking for. He was right when he said it beats down many other square stones for brilliance and I believe he wasn't just 'selling' the stone. He provided data why newer square cuts aren't as bright.

My issue is that (I believe) my GF really wants a square stone. (And I want to get her what she wants- and still make it a surprise).

[Hope she's not reading this board!]

I love the X-Prong. So unique, although I hope it retains it's uniqueness over the years.

Do you think that b/c the corners on the Regent aren't flat like the Radiant, Lucere, or Flanders, that the Four prongs are going to be set a little precariously? (Or at least a little less firmly than a stone with flat corners?

Thanks for the input!

Well I was exactly in the same boat, so I empathize! Jonathan told me the same, and I was just so obsessed with radiants, I NEEDED IT. I personally liked the cracked glass look, and HATED the princess's triangular facets and sparkles on me. The Regent will be such a wonderful compromise. Also the Queen of Hearts, which GOG offers as well is a squareish stone.

I don't recommend the Hearts on Fire Dream diamonds, or Elara, because of the cost. But the Flanders is ok, but NOT like a Regent!

GOG was SO helpful when we looked, and so patient. I swear he must have thought we were nuts!

I don't think she would ever complain it's not square enough once she saw how it sparkled compared to those average princess cuts! My friend with a princess passed by a round stone and almost cried that her D didn't sparkle the same...Yes shape is great, but once you see a Regent, I am sure you just won't go back!!!

Good luck and post pics!!!

Hello,

I don't have the pictures you're looking for, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents on regents. I think it is a very beautiful cut, and I agree that they are the most brilliant of the stones that you are talking about... However, I think they are also the most "round" looking of the stones you were talking about too... Maybe with bigger ct weights, they look more square -- but the ones I've seen (around 1 ct), look more round to me (than some of your other options). If you think your gf has her heart set on square, IMO, you are better off sticking with princess (or non-branded square cushion, or square radiant, or lucere, or even flanders).

I love square stones too, and for me I would gladly sacrifice a little sparkle, for a more square shape.

Just my 2 cents.

But, I am sure she will be thrilled with whatever you decide. I love the Vatch X prong you are looking at, and it'll be a beautiful combo either way.

Good luck.

Hmmm... I think, face-up, the Regent in an X-prong is going to look very similar to this.

Based on these pics from Vatche's site.

Just IMHO, of course.

There is a Regent thread in SMTR which may have what you want.

The Regent is not a square stone, it's more cushiony. I thought it would be more square than it really is. So if your gf wants a real square, I would say the Regent may not be for her.

Jonathan was on here last nite saying something about a potential new cut coming out which is more square but is also H&A with the look of the Regent. So you MAY want to wait and see over the next few weeks what develops?!

I think of the Regent as very cushion-like, which is why I like it so much. (I'm a cushion fan.) If I wanted a square I think the Queen of Hearts is a better choice.

Hi I responded to your thread in the show me the ring forum...in the regent pics thread Baloo's ring is in an x-prong...

While I LOVE Regents...they are not the squarest of the squares...they are more cushiony...which I love...

If your GF wants a square...does she want SQUARE aka princess...or squareish as in not round...if so Regrent Queen of hearts (more square than Regent) may be it

GOG has probably the best selection of modified squares and princesses

as for size..mine is a .90 and it is visually squarish up close...form across the room...it doesnt scream SQUARE...like a princess would...but is doesnt look round eiter

hope this helps

I'm also seriously interested in the Vatche x-prong/Regent combo.
After months of looking at stones, I decided to go with a Regent only to
learn (via GOG) that a stone in my range is not currently available.

I'm concerned that the Regent would look awkward in the 4 prong setting.
Has anyone set a Regent in the Vatche Royal Crown 6 prong setting?

Thanks.

Why would the Regent look odd in a 4 prong? That is what everyone has set them in up until this point as far as I know.

Personally I think a 6 prong would be weird...it would turn the Regent shape into a round! If you want a round, get a H&A round brilliant. If you get a Regent, show off that amazing shape!

There is a thread in the SMTR on just Regents, take a look at everyone's pictures. People have set the Regent into a Vatche setting more than once with 4 prongs and loved it.

Good luck!

Hi you need less prongs on the Regent...1 to show its unique shape and 2 for optical reason...Garry had a bit about that here but now i can't find it...

while I understand the desire for 6-prong settings...as for Regent IMO if you are going to put it in 6 prong you might as well by a round...

Geez, Mara, lighten up on this newbie!
I already have a big beautiful round (it was my mothers)so
I've decided on the Regent for its brilliance and shape.
I'm having trouble deciding between the Vatche x-prong and
a slender pave band like the one that you have.

Sorry I didn't think my initial respose was harsh, it wasn't meant to be. I, like Diane, don't see why anyone would consider setting a Regent in anything but a 4 prong to show it's shape and brilliance off. The nature of the type of stone it is really requires the most light possible to get to it.

Speaking of Regents in a pave...someone just posted one of those over in the Show me the Ring forum....you should see it, its beautiful!!! It's the Precision Set pave setting which is similar to mine in looks but slightly thinner and with cathedral pave shoulders. Very yummy!! The Regent looks great in it!

Thanks Mara. I'm probably just being too sensitive. I should know better than
to get on a forum after a very long day at work.
I do appreciate your's and Diane's input on the four prong Regent combo.
I looked at that lovely Regent in the precision set and the sides of the setting look a little too severe for me. I'm sure they have to be that flat to get the "flush-fit".
