GIA
Triple Excellent, Cut/Polish/Symmetry
1.25 C
F Colour
VS1
Round Brilliant
No Fluorescence
Table: 56
Depth 61.2
Crown Angle 34.5
Pavillion Angle 41
Girdle Medium Faceted

Thoughts on why I chose this:
1.25= Fiance is Petite with 4 3/4 Size Ring Finger...1.25 looks good
F Colour= Cheapest Colourless- and I want Colourless
VS1= 100% sure that it will be eye clean and not affect anything. VVS is out of budget. SI- the bigger the stone the more noticable potential inclusions are...I don't want any risks.
GIA= Reputation
Triple Excellent= For max fire/brilliance
No Flourescence= The bigger and more colourless it is- the less flourescence u want.
Table/Depth/Angles seem to be ideal or in that sweet spot.
Girdle: Medium- I can live with that, its better then super thick/super thin.

Budget is 12,000. (Thanks Med School Loans).

So why am I having second thoughts? Because I paid 11,400$ for it. Its quite a large sum of money. Blue Nile/James allen has similar specs to what I have above at around the same price- so I'm assuming I got a decent deal. It seems like a great stone...but I wonder if I can get more bang for buck? Maybe sacrifice to VS2 and get a 1.35? I dont want to gaudy...but bigger is always better?

As Is, I think I'm getting a good deal...but can someone convince me otherwise? Maybe I feel "stupid" because you can get a SI1 with similar specs for much much cheaper....but I cant live with myself knowing theres potential eye catching specks inside (I'm really picky about those specks because I'm a surgeon so I deal with miniature details for a living. .5-1mm makes or breaks a case)... Any thoghts or should I just let it go and tell myself I did my homework and you are paying for a good ring?

It sounds like a nice stone on paper - a VS2 carefully picked should also be 100% eye clean so it is really a matter of if you want a slightly larger stone or not, you might be able to find an eye clean VS2 or SI1 if you are really lucky with a marginally lower HCA and a marginally better spread (yours is a fraction deep) if you are prepared to hunt..... People here might also make other suggestions within your budget. If you are interested, you will find the HCA tool up in the drop down section under tools.

Could you give us the mm size on your stone? I dont feel like your's is deep. We usually suggest up to 62.3 and your's is well within
that threshold. Just because a stone is a little heavier carat-wise doesnt always mean that it's bigger or big enough to make it
worth your wild to change. I looked at JA but didnt find anything in the F/VS2 specs that was well cut.

My stone is 62.4 and beautiful. That's as low as I go but I would never dissuade someone from a stone 62-62.4. Frankly I prefer the way a stone looks when its a tad deeper.

6.94-6.98 x4.26.... oh I get it now. Ideally, it should be 7.0....so basically, I'm losing on size because the depth is deep...which also amounts to the way light enters and shines back... Hmmm Whats an appropriate mm to carat difference that is acceptable? Diamond shopping is straining....

I did say it is fractionally deep (meaning you are loosing the tiniest bit in spread only, if that is what is important to you) and yes you could in theory get over the magic 7mm number. Deep stones tend to have a good amount of fire so it really depends on what is important to you overall. You asked the question can you get better value for money and the answer is either stop over thinking and be happy with the diamond you have, which is fine, or yes you could go down a little in you specs and get a larger stone. If there is nothing else comparable in that price range then that makes it an easier answer.

Also, I find stones 62+ are priced a tad less than sub 62%. Meaning, a stone sub 62 with the same mm size would probably be the same price, even though the CTW is less.
