Hi there,

I've been reading so much on this forum - there so much good information - I was hoping I could tap into some of it and ask your advice on the ring I'm planning to purchase for my future fiancee. :D

We've previously done some ring shopping together, and she has fallen in love with the Soleste by Tiffany (http://d.pr/TYLS). I was hoping to get something equally as nice, but at a price point I can afford. I had found this ring setting (http://d.pr/nzH9) by James Allen which I think is quite close. Just hoping it's as nice as the Tiffany equivalent.

In terms of the diamond, she looked fantastic with a 1.3ct size. I had wanted to get a modern (lots of small facets/sparkles) cut, and as clear, bright, and sparkly as possible.

My biggest concern is.... If a diamond is to be set in the ring I have chosen, is it overkill going for a grade F/VVS2 and above? Will the sparkles be that much different than if I lowered that slightly to decrease the cost? If anyone would be so kind as to help me select a diamond they think would be amazing, that would be ever so helpful.

Also, it would be great to get the opinions you might have on the JA ring I selected too. If you think that is a nice replica?

I'm trying to keep the budget for the combo around $12,000. The ring is $4,200, whcih means the diamond will be around $8000. I'd be willing to go higher if you really think it is worth the payoff for sure. I guess I'm just really super indecisive, and would love to hear from someone who really knows their stuff.

Thanks so much in advance.
Glen :)

Yes, it is overkill for a VVS2. A VS2 is a very safe bet and will cost you less, you can even go to an SI1 if it is eyeclean. My cushion is a SI1 and I see nothing in it and I am happy I went that route.
