Please watch these 4 video’s and vote for your favorite of the four round diamonds.
Since you can only vote for 1 stone - you may also rate them in a post from 1-4 like this: 2,4,3,1 where 2 is your fav and 1 your least preferred.

Small size images – about 6.5 mm on most screens to make something realistic
In ‘daylight’
In ‘daylight’ with LED’s

Large size images – about 25 mm on most screens (takes longer to download).

In ‘daylight with LED’s

I messed up the movies - cant fix it - please wait till andrey can help me

[ Edit by Andrey - hopefully these will work now.]

4 rounds movies big and small.jpg

2,3,4,1

The larger the facet, the less symmetrical (predictable patterning), the less h&a the better.

Thanks Garry.

It was hard to tell the difference from (3,4,1) in the smaller version, but I like the chunkier facet of #2

2, 4, 1, 3

#2 ... the others look the same to me (headlight-ish) which is why I stay away from RB''s except in micro-pave size. And even then I''d prefer single cuts!

Dangit, I can''t see the video. Apparently I don''t have the ability on my dinosaur computer. I wanna play.

3 my fav and then 2, 1, 4

Can''t you install the quicktime player?

I like 2 the best
I have been corrupted by oecs lol

2, 1 and 3 (tie), 4. Oh, and you''ll need a loupe to see the small size

Stone-cold...I wish I could. My nephew infected my computer when I let him stay with me. I am lucky to be able to install anything. I am in dll hell.

But I will go with your picks. I trust your eye.

#2. My computer is having issues. But #2 is it for me.

I agree. Maybe it is because I can''t get excited about RB''s and don''t find even well cut versions particularly appealing but I could hardly spot any differences.

2
Big space
3,4,1

Not much difference between the last three.

I am in the same boat - #2 all the way!
I just dont get excited with rounds much...

Number 2 appears to have larger and/or fewer facets. It has more prominent and contrasting light performance. But it somehow looks "wrong" for a round. I would (and did) choose a cushion if I wanted the effect of number 2.
For a classical round, I'd choose one of the others (1,3 or 4), but would prefer a slower-rocking image to decide which is best, since although I might be able to detect slight differences, they are quite small. Maybe number 3 has a slight edge, but, as I say; I'd prefer to rock them slower and tilt them a bit more wth each rocking motion - but I would not be entirely surprised if 3 was slightly steep/deep.

Regards,

OH prefers:

Video 1:
1, 4, 3, 2.

Video 3:
4, 1, 3, 2.

Apparently because; "they''ve got more happening / more going on".

2 is the only one I like. Again not a fan of RB stones unless they are older cuts.

My DH says it is a tie between 1 & 4 for him. Then 3 then 2.

small size: 4, 1, (gap) 3, (gap) 2
large size: 4 1, (gap) 3, (gap) 2

notes: completely untrained eye, so i could be comically wrong on all points. i''m also a fan of modern RB cut, so #2 lost due to personal preferences. it was pretty good at showing fire, though. never was a fan of 3, seemed duller than others at small size; in big it looked like i could almost see through the diamond near the edges of the table. no thanks.

4 and 1 were like ->||<- thiiiiis close, but after staring mesmerized at a few videos, i think 4 had better coloring off the arrows (big size) and more fire (small size), so it got a small edge.

also, since i have a sneaking suspicion that this is in the spirit of blind testing for steep/deep ''problems'', here''s simply what i think, if i had to identify the differences: #1,3 are steep/deep, 1 is painted, 4 is near TIC.

thanks for the vids garry! i think this is a great test, and i''m very interested to see the results! (especially wrt my thoughts... i''d love to learn how to better interpret what my eyes are telling me!)

I can''t decide.

#2 is obviously different. As far as 1,3 and 4 go.. can''t really tell which I prefer. Maybe 1 has less flashes.. maybe 3 goes dark under the table a little more? Or maybe my eyes are just playing tricks on me. For the most part, they look pretty much the same.

also (as above)...

close-ish, overall...

second video I nearly discounted entirely, but saw it matched my preferences, which were otherwise different on each round of videos, listed as a-d as in the order they are presented above:
a) 1342, b) 2143, c) 1342, d) 2134

To evaluate, I just added quadrants for a, c & d, and took reported the order by the lowest number

4th video...I picked up awareness of color in flashes...

Thanks Andry.

1 shows better in the last video (that fixes the broken one).

However, I still prefer the broad flashes of fire of #2. It''s quite possible, when I think about it, that if I saw the stones in person I''d prefer a different stone. However, in a video like this the more fire the more a stone stands out.

managed to get the opinion of the OH. she also doesn''t like #2, had a preference for #1 overall in small vids, large vids couldn''t really tell the difference.

she was also somewhat frustrated cause she didn''t see the point, so it''s a quick evaluation. another data point nonetheless...
