This website is phenomenal. You can either click on the gem name and it brings up typical inclusions OR you can click on one of the square boxes in the table at the top right to see inclusions of a specific type. I'm afraid it's in French but it's pretty easy to understand.

And another that has some interesting photos:

Here's a list of common inclusions seen in synthetics that can help you separate natural and synthetic.

thanks LD - geminterest is my favorite and you can get google translate to translate it to English (I don't understand ANY French so I need it)

http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=http://www.geminterest.com/&ei=eu5WTe-aM4SssAPFm-iiDA&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=1&sqi=2&ved=0CCQQ7gEwAA&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dgeminterest.com%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1R2GGLL_enUS330%26prmd%3Divns

If that link doesn't work, just type geminterest.com in the google search engine and when it come up it allows you to "translate this page" and then it's in English. I've actually started copying the enlarged photos in their inclusion photo section and making my own "inclusion" album with some of their photos... unfortunately it's about a four or five step process to get the photos because you can't just copy them, but it's totally worth it to me.

I also like the photos on GemResearch Swisslab website http://www.gemresearch.ch/ but you have to do some searches, as they aren't all in one place.

Thanks for the tips on translation - the only problem is that if you translate the pages, if you click on a photo to see it larger it doesn't work. Unless I'm missing a trick?

Edit: Just found something else as well. If you translate the site, it only brings up some of the photos. For example if you click on Alexandrite synthetique on the French page you get 3 or 4 photos. If you do the same on the translated page it doesn't bring up any. No idea why but it might be worth saving both in favourites!

This is the way I do it:

I have the google translate page opened twice.

When you get this message, copy the web address from right after the forward slash (not the "was not found..... part) and paste it in the other opened site (like the second photo) after the forward slash and when you then click translate, it brings up the enlarged photo. I know it seems like a pain to do this process, but I prefer it to enlarging the photos in the original site, because the French explanations do me no good, but yes, if you are just looking at the photos (or know French), then it's easier not to do the google translate.
