Hi Guys,

I am just bursting with excitement and not many people IRL get my obsession with my critters. Many of you know (or could have guessed by the avatar...duh) I ride, and horses are my general most expensive downfall next to the sparklies. I have an OTTB (off the track Thoroughbred) mare, who is a work in progress and really isn''t sound or sane enough to do the type of eventing I want to or am use to doing... so the DH gave me the green light to source and select my newest partner in crime!!

After many test rides of horses all over the board, I want to introduce you guys to Midways Nordic Rosea... a 7yr old Knabstrupper mare. She''s a total doll, and a dream to jump. She''s still green but just came off 90 days professional training with a top UK eventer. Needless to say I am beside myself excited.

TB - She is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!! I love the color and what great conformation! You''ll have to share more about her personality as you grow with her! That is so exciting!

She is drop dead gorgeous!! Congrats! You''ll have to post a ton more pictures when you start training with her

Thanks DF!! She is so unusually marked. She''s not really roan, or flea bitten, or an app. From the research I did, its a pretty common color for the Knabs, but its such a small group in the states, not many people have seen it! I love it. You cant see clip lines or dirt for that matter... Going to be wonderful at the shows.

She''s still green but really tries her little heart out. She just takes a few "asks" for her to figure out what you want. at 15.2 she is the smallest I have owned, but by far will out jump anything else I have had! X-Country course here we come!!!!!!

Thanks for the complements, I think shes a nicely built little mare, and I wont be able to hid in the ring with THAT color

Hi Elrohwen!! Thanks so much!! I got her home late Friday night, and have had 2 wonderful rides already. Here''s a little trotting action for ya!

Do you mind if I use the conformation photos for myself for conformation reference? She is so well built!

Hey DF: Don''t mind at all! Glad to know she''s a poster girl

Oh how exciting!! She''s beautiful! She looks like she has great athletic ability and such a pretty mover.

she looks like a smooth ride!

Thanks Portia and Movie Z!!

Portia: She actually has an interesting trot, I am so used to the no collection movement of my track mare, its funny watching me post to something with her collection. Her canter is like a rocking horse though. Could ride it all day

She''s a beauty! Congratulations! I''m horse illiterate but she sure looks pretty jumping over that fence/gate/jump/(whichever it is)!

She''s beautiful! I can tell how excited you are to ride her, TB.

Tyty: Horse illiterate people are more than welcome. I really appreciate the compliments. She does jump amazingly well, and you can call that jump a number of things... including all you mentioned

Thanks Zoe!

I feel like such a little kid. I don''t want to be bratty and brag to my friends, so I get to "brag" and bug the heck out of all of you guys with my excitement!!

Beautiful horse! Congrats!

I used to ride when I was younger, and only conquered the trot.

Again, congrats!

Oh, she is just gorgeous!!! Lucky girl!!!

Thx Beachrunner

If you mastered the gate you are ahead of the game! The trot may be the most uncomfortable gate of them all!!

Thanks Missy!! Trust me, I''ll pay for it come fall when DH wants to spend all his time in a tree stand, lol. She didn''t come with out stipulations

brag all you want! be shameless! your new beauty is, well, a beauty!

I''m another non-horsey person, but could you describe the color and why it''s more rare for some of us non-horse people? I''m very intrigued

Oh she is a darling!!!!

I don''t know the name of that color (and I''ve been in horses for 20 years). I do know that typically a horse with red points (legs, ears etc) and a gray overtone is highly uncommon. Generally you will see greys which have black skin and all white hairs (these are normally born black, bay or chestnut and fade to steel, cloudy grey then the white grey), roans which are predominantly of the redder with white hair mixed in, or appaloosas which are white, with spots. Apps are denoted by more pink skin around the eyelids if they are white based with spots. I can honestly say I''ve never seen this before, and find it a beautiful color and would love to know more about it. Actually the only photos of Knapstrups I''d ever seen were chestnuts.

She''s beautiful! I went to horse back riding camp for years when I was young... I love horsies!

She''s beautiful! More pictures please!

I know nothing about horses but she`s beautiful - and I`m glad you`re so excited! :)

Hey guys! Thanks for everyone that has checked in on Rose and I so far...

Kas: I think Dragonfly gave you the best run down anyone could have. Rose''s coloring is so off... it just isn''t normal. Evidently it is normal for the breed, (Knabstrupper) but there are so few of them in the states, most horse people aren''t familiar. Leopard patterns and minimal spots are the usual patterns for these horses.

DF: Thx for the very educational post, you did a better job then I could have about the coloring

Lorelei: I was waiting for you to pop in and give me your stamp of approval
36.gif

Tuskins and Maevie: thanks so much for the kind words
35.gif

B.E.G: I am working on it, just have cruddy blackberry pics since I got her home

What a doll she is! Her coloring is gorgeous, and really unusual! Congrats on your new addition!

I have an OTTB too, so I know exactly what you mean about the lack of collection that you have with your TB! I bet it's nice to have the other end of the spectrum now! LOL!

BTW, she looks like an AMAZING jumper! I'm loving those tight little knees!
