Hubby.

I detest it. Call him husband, or give him a name, but please not that. It''s grim.

I''m guilty of that one when posting online.

The irony of it all - I can''t stand hearing the word when it''s spoken. I''m generally not a fan of shortened words - brekkie, preggers, etc.

I used to have major pet peeves with spelling, grammar and neatness but then my dear son was diagnosed with dsylexia....What a shock to realize that my major pet peeves were probably just people who are dsylexic and were just doing the best that they can without a built in editor.
are you pointing your finger at me??
Definitely not! Seeing my son struggle to learn spelling words over and over and then have his teachers tell him he isn''t "trying" hard enough, cured my pet peeve forever.

My new one is sorting garbage. I know it''s good for the environment but I''m tired after a long day at work and cooking meals for my family, just once I''d like to throw it all in the garbage!

It came out that Republican lawyers were up in Alaska vetting Palin more than 72 hours after it was announced that she’d been name his veep.

Hmmm....that''s not a new or revolutionary usage. Can''t quite see how it qualifies as "slang".

I've always used that word for that purpose! It's not a new thing around here anyway.

The misspellings "rediculous" and "devine" are my pet peeves, but it's only mildly annoying, if you catch me on a bad day. Don't have a lot to be worrying about do I
2.gif

"lay" in place of "lie".

preggo/preggers.

Ditto MissMina - advice/advise. I'll add practice/practise to that list.

the fact that with the multitude of fakes out there, buying used dvds with guarantees of authenticity is virtually impossible, and buying new dvds is painfully expensive
38.gif

Add me to the list of people who don''t like hubby, preggo, and preggers. Not sure what bothers me about those words, but I really don''t like them
3.gif

I forgot "I could care less", which makes no sense anyway.

Apparently I''m easily peeved!

Here''s my pet peeve: the "big finger" excuse. It drives me nuts to see posts by women with size 6.5-7 fingers saying they need bigger diamonds because they have huge fingers. ugh. If you want a bigger diamond -- awesome. Why justify it with the size of your finger, especially when your fingers are actually AVERAGE sized? And are you then saying that anyone else with that size finger should have a larger diamond? You like''em big - more power to you! I just don''t get the "excuse."

ok. vent. OVER.

If that''s the case, looks like I need a bigger diamond...I''ll get to that one asap lol

Totally guilty of writing hubby but I do hate the way it sounds out loud. I'll write it out from now on.

A huge pet peeve of mine is calling men "boys". I know it happens on here a lot but I can't figure it out because if you're close to getting married, shouldn't they be referred to as men yet? And don't men have a problem being referred to as that? I always think they're referring to children they have or something.

That one irritates me too. Over here, we say "I couldn''t care less." Which makes a lot of sense. Must have gotten lost somewhere along the way!

DH always asks about me going out with the girls...girls night out...doing girly stuff...etc
I dunno, guess it''s just one of those things I''ve never noticed. From now on it shall be called doing womenly things lol

Guess I don''t get around much
I had never heard the term before
last week re Hait.
I wouldn''t consider it slang.
More Like venue was not so very long ago
when the only people who used it
were concert promoters

I''m not a big spelling and gramma nazi becuase my spelling is piss poor, always has been. I''m not lazy or stupid, I''ve just never been able to spell things correctly if they aren''t spelt how they sound.

The "word" that drives me flipping insain when people say is "yous" as in, the plural of the word "you". Used in a sentance "Do yous want to come over to my house?" It is very popular slang in certain ethnic communities in New Zealand and I hate it!

i know i have problems with the English language. hmmm...come to think of it i have trouble with my native Chinese language too.

my biggest pet peeve.People who drive and text or talk on their phone. Also people who expect me to help them on the sales floor while they talk to someone else!

My MIL.
*Her racist comments.
*Her fear of any restaurant that is not a chain.
*The fact that she describes Europe as "Dirty". (She has never been)
*Her extreme right wing politics.

I''ll stop now, suffice to say I could go on for days.

Mine are mostly language related. The two that come to mind:

-when people say "irregardless"

-my kids say "do you want to verse me?" in the context of a video or other game. It means "do you want to play me". The only thing I can guess is that they hear of the Saints vs. the Colts and they think "vs." must have a conjugation

Talking and driving. Today, I was driving through Home Depot''s parking lot and a woman was holding her phone with her left hand and then put her right hand out to command me to stop. This lady was in her car NO hands left to put on the wheel and instead was directing which way I moved my car. Ugh, I should have ran into her. lol

I CAN''T STAND when people refer to their son as "my little man." Ugh. It drives me bonkers. It''s all I see on my News Feed on Facebook. "Oh, my little man is so cute" or "I''m so proud of my little man for eating his peas for dinner!"

It''s a baby. It''s a child. It''s a toddler. "Little guy" doesn''t bother me, but "little man" sends me over the edge.

Using a mobile while driving pisses me off too. First, because it''s illigal here, and second because I can''t belive people think that every text or phone call is just SO important they must answer or reply immediately and can''t wait 5 minutes untill they are not driving.

Oh and third, one of my friends is a bad enough driver to begin with that when I''m in the car with her and she''s relpying to a text at the same time I grip the seat that much tighter and silently pary for survival.

That''s really funny because I call my dog, my little man. You bet the unborn child will not be called the same pet name.

Stupid things people do while driving their cars definitely get me. It doesn''t have to be as blatant as texting while driving though... people who wait until it''s pitch black to turn on their headlights will elicit bad language from me. My favorite for driving infractions is "turkey"
2.gif
.

In general though... it seems like the older I get, the fewer pet peeves I have. I''m well aware that it''s not supposed to work that way. In fact, my mother is the exact opposite. The older she gets, the more pet peeves and the less tolerance she has. Maybe my decrease in pet peeves is just normal (very post-) teenage rebellion?

Or maybe I just can''t remember things that get to me long enough to have them turn into genui-i-i-ine pet peeves?

This one annoys me too. I like to think I married a man, rather than a boy.

Ditto 'girls' for women and "ladies" makes me cringe all the way through my body. Ladies is a word with 100% negative connotations for me.

And people regularly mentioning their weight annoy me. Casual chauvanism and assumptions based on gender roles annoy me. Oh, and people who assumes I share thier cultural and social values, unless they know I do.

Um, yes. I've had a day full of peeves yesterday. I should relax a little.

My biggest pet peeve is when I''m in the car with my FMIL and she screams at EVERY other driver on the road. She''s quite loud when she talks but in the car she just goes ultrasonic

1. When I don''t get any sleep, being that I''m not a morning person to start with.
2. When people criticize my driving.
3. When DH combines these at 7am.

Guess how my morning was
