Perth GTG?

With nearly NO notice??

I'm wondering if anyone would like to meet up this weekend - Saturday morning? Sunday? Coffee in the city with a bit of window shopping? I know we've been talking for some time about doing it. There are at least a dozen of us Perthites here, so maybe a few of us could make it on such short notice.

I do have an ulterior motive...I'm very much hoping Zahra (yes, you Z!) will join me so I can have a look at that fabulous ring in person. I'm very strongly considering the twin diamond at JbEG and would like to see what sort of color to expect in person. I'll have to make a decision in the next week, so I don't really have the luxury of lots of time or I would have been a bit better about advance notice!

You should see if that huge OEC in Perth is still available. It was pretty close to Zahra's in size. Do you have the person's details? I can try and find them if not.

I don't have bling like you guys tho, so nothing to show off...

Oh goodness, Glam - I completely forgot about that stone here! Do you remember who had it? I wonder if it would be affordable -- you know what the pricing is like in Perth!

My little Oh is still here, she's up to Ocean Keys to be sterilized/vacc/microchipped next Wed and then she will be available to go to a new home. I am not sure how things will go with her - being tamed from her half-feral state has resulted in her becoming very attached to me, and seemingly me only. She will let DH hold her, but wiggles to be put down and runs to me. Everyone we've had over to the house is only able to pat her when I'm holding her, and she still struggles to get away. She will have to find a new mummy who is willing to be patient and allow time to bond. I am MORE than happy to keep her in the meantime. I do think there is the "right" home out there for her, and will wait for it. Thankfully she's just gorgeous, so that will attract more attention. She's actually a "black smoke" - the base of her fur is a light grey, then it goes to midnight black at the ends. Apparently that's desirable?

Litter would be fabulous! We go through so much of it, it's just a joke.

My DH did just remind me that Sunday is Mother's Day...guess you can tell I don't have children, or even a mother here in Perth! We'll see who is interested, and if Sunday is totally out of the question.

That stone in Perth never sold. I have the owners email if you are interested, or you can email John Hammond direct and ask for him to forward your email on. Be warned though, I don't think she will let it go cheap. In her email she said that she was conflicted and didn't know if she really wanted to sell it but would if the price was right. And then asked how much I was willing to offer with absolutely no information about the stone. but it is worth a try! It was very pretty from the one photo we saw.

If it hasn't sold, they may be willing to accept a lower offer? They told HOT they were hoping for $50k back then. How much is the JbEG you are looking at? (or is that a rude question?)

off topic but Perth related: you've got a great art exhibit coming [picasso to warhol] and i'm envious!

sorry for straying so far from jewelry...........

so, when in perth, where does one go to see "fine" jewelry? i know its got to be there but i haven't found the "shops" yet......perhaps i'm not trying hard enough!

I think that Perth stone is out then, it's close to double the cost of the JbEG one!

MZ...there really isn't much truly fine jewelry here. You've got a few shops along a stretch in Subiaco - Linney's, Smales, Thomas Meihofer (sp?). A couple in the city (Hay St and Murray St malls) - Koro and Solid Gold. There are a few nice antique places - one in Trinity Arcade, one in Nedlands, and one in Cottesloe. And then there are a million crappy chains, just like in the States. Their crappiness varies by a few degrees, but they all still contain the same uneducated, misleading salespeople.

I'll have to check out the exhibit, if I'm not overseas during its residency.

I think with Mother's Day this weekend, I'm going to have to face the facts that most people won't be available - in addition to it being very short notice. I was just clinging to hope that Zahra would see the thread and let me have a gander at her ring!

We'll have to arrange a proper GTG when everyone gets a bit more notice and time to plan. I will unfortunately (fortunately?) be overseas shortly, not back until mid-July. Maybe when I get back I'll start putting the pressure on the other Perthies to gather up their bling and meet up.
