What sort of extra personal touches are you adding to your wedding? We are having a small, intimate gathering but I''m still trying to add special things here and there.

-Welcome bags with personal notes for each guest
-One of the couples coming always sends post cards to their dogs when they travel. We are planning on picking up a postcard and putting postage on it for them, so they can put it in the mail as soon as they get there.

I''m sure I''ll be doing more, but that is what I am coming up with now. What are you/did you do?

Well....

Um. I can''t think of anything cutesy...

I suck.

Well, get more creative already! I leave in a week and a half.

Well I''m not too worried about it, because I don''t leave for 9 months.

I''m DIYing a lot of stuff so I guess I''m putting my personal touches on those things. So far I''ve make STD''s, invitations, ring bearer pillow, flower girl basket, guestbook pages, and I''m currently working on our programs. I also plan to make favors, OOT bags, rehearsal dinner and farewell brunch invites, centerpieces and bouquets... Umm I think there''s other stuff tooo..! Ahhh! So basically I''m trying to put my own personal touches on every aspect of my wedding!

Ohhh Pearl - what are you doing for favors? Isn''t your wedding coming up soon?

Freke - quit bragging with the nine months thing. I don''t know how April 25th has snuck up on me sooooo quickly! I have so much more to get done!

I wish I were bragging. Think anyone will notice if we just elope and get it over with so we can just be married and not have to worry about the rest of it?

May I recommend a limo and a drive-up wedding chapel? Easiest thing in the world!

Yeah, June 26th is my big day! My co-worker is getting married on the same day as you and I''m using her wedding as a countdown to mine to help keep me on track. I can''t believe it''s only two weeks away! You must be soooo excited!

Our "theme" is like a garden-type theme I suppose. We''re getting married in this courtyard area with lots of trees and flowers, my invitations have flowers on them, even my dress has some taffeta roses on it. So really I''m just basing everything on a floral theme. So I''m going to combine favors with escort cards. I''m going to get a bunch of mini terracotta pots at Micheal''s Crafts and plant a single flower in each of them, and then make a stake with the persons name on it.

Just did a quick google search to see if I could find an example. I plan to plant real flowers in the pots but they''ll be similar to these...

Those are adorable!!!

I am getting excited, but it is half excitement half panic! I haven''t been feeling well for the past week or so and haven''t done anything. I''m trying to finish doing all the wedding stuff AND honeymoon planning. I know what I''ll be doing tomorrow.

We''re having personalised cake toppers of myself, D, Amber and Manolo made. D adored them when he saw them and really wanted them.
I''m the biggest rose wine lover so we''re having that for our toast drink and also we''re giving little bottles of Rose wine as favors.
We''re DIYing our invites and other things like mass booklets.

emmm can''t think of anything else at the moment.

One of our friends did a wallet sized engagement photo for everyone to take home. That''s all I have right now...I suck too

Not sure if these count but here are some...
OOT gift bags with umbrellas (we are getting married in Seattle), home made choc chip cookies by me- I have been making them since the age of 16 and everyone kind of knows they are my thing, water bottles with our names and wedding date, and starbucks card with a Seattle postcard w/ a handwritten note to everyone
My grandfather is going to be the MC for the wedding and my cousins are singing our Recessional, "Everlasting Love"
Since we have been together for 10+ years we are doing a some photos displayed in frames of us througout the years
Guestbook from Blurb with our e-pics
We are using the monogrammed M from our website and we have carried the monogram through our invites, the tags on our favor boxes, OOT bags, our cake topper, programs, and a few other things
Favor boxes are from a local chocolate place we both love
And... FI has done the calligraphy for everything from invites, place cards, to bar menu!

Umm, we''re going to hold a little pub trivia type game during the dancing portion of the night. We looove trivia and most of our friends do too, so that''s pretty personal.

We''re having our favorite beers (which most of our friends also love) and a wine from the region where we all went to college.

Our favors will be pint glasses with some kind of personalized logo. We''re hoping the venue will use the glasses to serve beer throughout the night and then people can take them home.

We did something similar to Pearl''s, we planted different colored Kalanchoe in each pot and I stenciled the guests names on them. The guests loved them, many still have them; we planted ours in the garden and it''s fun to glance at them and be reminded of our wedding day.

We used a photo from our engagement session to make custom postage stamps (we''re kissing, so you can''t really see our faces) for the invitations, and want to make a "Thank You" sign to hold, so we can use the pictures for "Thank You" cards. Our favors will be a variety of candy that takes us back to childhood - Boton Rice Candies and Pocky (chocolate covered biscuit sticks) for me (I''m Korean, and when we were kids, my parents always got us treats when we went to the Korean Market with them), and one other (FI''s choice).

Instead of table numbers we are doing places we''ve been to and things we''ve done together. We are putting a picture of ourselves at that place with a few sentences about our time there e.g. a Costa Rica Table, A table with the name of the bar where we first met and a "this day in history table" etc.

I'm not all that creative, but here's what I came up with:

-cake topper - using figurines of Mario and Princess Toadstool to represent our geekiness and love of video games
-origami flowers and cranes to be scattered over tables
-DIY invitations (from a kit) and programs
-table numbers are required by our venue, but in addition, each table will be named after a classical music composer, and the place cards will be CDs with a song representing each table and the guests' names on the front
-DIY centerpieces (candles surrounded by small stones in hurricane glass over a green round placemat)
-friend is making chocolate candy in the shape of calla lilies (our flower)
-guestbook with pics of us from Shutterfly

...and that's all I can think of for now.

These are all just thoughts right now but...

We are having a couple of cocktails to choose from, Mojitos, becasue they are my fi''s favourite, he had tons of them on our holiday in Bali when he first started talking seriously about getting married (our wedding will have a bali, frangipani theme) and Cosmopolitans for me, just because.

Our wedding toasts will be a champagne cocktail.. when travelling around Europe about 3 years ago I went to a schnaps brewery and they had a 24carat gold leaf encrusted schnaps. Appartently a couple of years before this mixed with champagne was the feature cocktail at the vienna ball. I bought a couple of bottles, carted them around europe for 6 weeks with the intention of using this cocktail for the toasts on my wedding day... i had''t even met my fi yet!! (the day i came home a friend told me she had someone she wanted to introduce to me, and the rest they say is history!)

And i''m not too sure if i will use these as favours, because technically people wont get to keep them but...

I have seen these thai sky lanterns on ebay that you light and release,
Since there will be a few people missing such as granparents who have passed, my fi''s dad passed many years ago and others, i wanted to attach notes to the sky lanterns for the people not there, thank you notes to other people etc, then pass them all out towards the end of the night, light them up and have everyone let them all go at once... i think it will be a great photo oportunity and something different too.

Just ideas.

I some of my stuff in on my wedding pic thread...mainly hand made tags with peoples names, reserved signs.

we decided since every summer we plant tons of pots of flowers for outside our house ( we have a collection of 30 plus pots and everyone we know knows this about us) That we will be planting our own flowers to line the isle and two big ones that we will stand between when we say our vows.

Our ceremony will be outside of a mansion on a stone terrace that overlooks a garden and fountains. Than we will be eating inside. We will also plant something for the table center pieces.

So far, those of my family members I have told we will be doing this have all commented on how that would be so us.... :)
