Personal Article Floater?

Is a personal article floater a separate policy from your homeowners insurance? I am being offered this from Travelers who also has my homeowners, but I wanted to do some research on it to determine whether or not I want it. The agent said that it was a separate policy but I wanted to confirm. I googled it and searched here on the forum but I am still unclear as to whether or not it is a separate policy. Any insight you can provide is greatly appreciated.

I have a personal article policy that covers my jewerly and it is thru state farm and it is seperate from my homeowners, I pay a seperate yearly premium for it.
