I am a very picky girl so it took a bit of time to find something as there was so many lovely items to choose from and unfortunately the sky was not the limit for the budget lol. I eventually ended up going to a create your own event they were having at my local jewelers where I got to pick my diamond and then pick my semi mount. The diamond we ended up getting was a loose pear shape diamond 0.36 SI1 G with faint fluorescence. I have tiny fingers and so I don’t need anything extremely big. My husband payed a lot for the ring but it was a better quality than an already put together ring that we would have got at the jewelry store. It took weeks before getting it back and I could hardly remember what it looked like, but about a month after the hubby picked it up he proposed. I had the ring for less than a week before it whent missing( it was stolen) I believe from my teenage children’s friend after I took it off when washing dishes and put it on the microwave for the night. The thing about this ring was it was extremely brilliant and under certain lighting it looked like an opal in pictures and gave off flickers of colours of blue, green, yellow red. The bow tie effect well known on pears was not visible to me at all.I loved it and was heartbroken to have it stolen!!! It had been a couple of years later and my husband and I would like to get a replacement ring just like what I had and since you ladies know so much about diamonds perhaps you can point me in the right direction as to what I am looking for to get the same effect I had with my diamond. Here are some pics for your reference although pics don’t show exactly what I mean.

I'm so sorry your ring was stolen! :(sad

The best place to start looking for fancy cut stones is James Allen. Can you tell us what your budget is for the stone?

Nice pears are hard to come by. We can help you look if you let us know what your budget is and the specs you would like to stick with.

Edit...also, did the old stone have a GIA/AGS (or some kind) of report? If so, can you tell us the
dimensions of the stone so we can get at least that size.

Ladies only thread? :(2

I live in Canada but I have a certificate from ABI.
I’m not exactly sure what dimensions you need because there are a lot of them. I’ll just post a pic cause I’m not sure what I’m looking for.

Since I am not looking for anything huge I just want the same effect that my diamond had. My budget ideally would b 1000 or under for the diamond and setting I can get separately.I pretty much want the same thing as I had before....

Let me ask you...did your stone have mostly small flashes or, have a mix of big and small flashes?

Gosh it was so long ago now I can hardly remember. But I would say mostly small.

@tyty333 you are thinking what I was thinking. I was betting on crushed ice vs. crisp facets.

@FutureGracie Diamonds by Lauren (DBL) is really good with fancies and they can post a video of these to you. But, you might ask if they can share a video of a crushed ice pear if these don't work.

Thanks for the link and reply and perhaps it is the crushed ice look I like. So basically I am looking for a diamond with a bad cut? I really don’t care if that is the case because it is personal preference.

Of the two links I much prefer the first one but out of my price range at the moment and the second one has although beautiful in terms of fire I dislike the bow tie.

I feel better now
