Hi Gang

My first post, looking for a setting to highlight an 1.697ct H VS2 Round H&A Isee2 (round brilliant).
Im looking for something thats going to show the diamond in full brilliance and scintillation. I think the tiffany settings
are quite thin, as my girl ive noticed wears a little thicker band. A high setting, not sure should it be a cathedral setting or have a
knife edge shank, as i must also keep in mind, that a future wedding band to complement the flush look will be needed.
I hope this is not a tough order for anyone to give advice, as I am new to the game of rings. Ive been looking at the folllowing
websites, dvatche, stuller, and precision. I dont think i need any baguettes or any pave setting, as it can make the ring gaudy, and thats the last thing i want to happen, so a great settting to show off the rock would be nice. Any suggestions my fellow ps''s.

Did she specifically ask for a high setting? The only reason I ask is that they tend to get knocked around a bit more. Just thought I''d throw that out there. Many women love them though.
 
no this will be a surprise, not sure how high to go, though looking for a beautiful setting, perhaps channel or pave, settings, nothing too much that willl take the sparkle out of the center stone.
 
This is funny because I am also looking for a setting for a 1.63 H VS1 stone! The Vatche settings are quite beautiful and have wider bands. You don''t need a high setting on a 1.69 because it is big enough that it will sit fairly high even set low! So you don''t want it too high. If you require the bands to fit perfectly flush, then you might want to concentrate on Precision Set. They do have some beautiful mountings! I tried them on yesterday and while there were several I liked, I did not find them as comfortable as others like Vatche which have more rounded edges. I''ve tried about everything on at this point, and hope to choose something very soon! (Mine is for an anniversary, not engagement, so I am picking it out myself!) A Vatche with a thinner diamond wedding band would be lovely. A good example is Ellen''s ring on that other thread. I love a slight gap between the rings to show it''s not all one ring. I definitely would not get a curved w-band because there might be occasions she''d want to wear the wedding band alone.
 
If she like''s a slightly thinking band I think the Vatche Royal Crown would be perfect. A wedding band won''t be perfectly flush but the gap is very tiny and probably barely noticable in person.

Have you tried the solesfera setting, on the gog site, which looks elegant, im trying to surprise someone, and find it nerve wracking about a setting. I dont like x prong I dont believe, something about the gap under the stone, I dont like to see.

I love that you''re trying to make this a surprise but many times women like having a say in what their e-ring will look like. Have you considered proposing with the stone in a temp. setting and then going to look at settings together after your propose, so you can consider what she''d like as well, espicially since she''s the one who will be wearing it?
 
That Solasfera setting would be an excellent choice if you''re sure she''d like a classic setting. I think the basket type head is beautiful and certainly it looks very well made. I am going to look again to see if I can find more pictures of one. But I agree with mrssalvo that it would be good to know some styles she really likes rather than spending a large amount and taking the chance she wouldn''t love it. However, going with a simple, elegant design is the least risky. Then she can pretty much choose any kind of wedding band to go with it.
