I would love for my little girl to get diamond studs soon, but I don't know if it's such a great idea to get her diamond earrings at such a young age. Would she even appreciate them? Would she be able to look after them properly? Any thoughts?
My little girl got her ears pierced when she was 7. I took her to a piercing studio because I knew the level of sanitation and care was higher there than at the mall, etc. When she first got pierced we put in tiny barbells which were purple surgical steel with a tiny fuscia gem on the front. They were the best decision I ever made because you pretty much have to go back to the piercing salon to change them. They never fell out, irritated while sleeping, or were lost. Since then, she has upgraded to gold barbells with blue opals and has tiny flower diamond barbells on her wish list.
If you're willing to go the barbell route, they really can provide the best of both fashion and function in a way where you don't have to worry much at all about losing them.
Thanks for the advice. I think barbells make the most sense at that age, and that is the route I will be taking. I do want her to have diamonds. She sees just how much my gems mean to me and I know she would absolutely love to have a pair of her own.
