Hi! I apologize in advance if I am in the wrong section. Please forgive me if so.

I have a friend who received a Tiffany ring from the Elsa Peretti collection, and she doesn''t know if it''s silver or platinum. The inside "stamp" says Peretti 195D and Tiffany & Co.

I have not been able to find any information on what this particular stamp means, or if it even indicates what the metal is.

Thank you in advance if you any info or insight! :)

Amy

Call up Tiffany?
Hi Amy

Thats what I would do, call Tiffany to be sure.

Thanks for the idea. I called them and the lady I spoke with couldn''t tell me. She directed me to the site index to look at the Peretti collection and told me I would be able to see the inside of the bands, and I wasn''t able to.

No big deal - just thought if someone here knew off the top of their head or had a ring like it with this stamp, they may know what it meant.

Thanks!

Well ... .925 is the stamp for sterling silver, but there''s no way I can think of for what you''re describing to match up to that. 950, PLAT, or IRID/PLAT is the common designation for platinum (there are variations, depending on the specific alloy). But I''ve never seen 195D ... any chance it could be I 950? That would mean it was platinum alloyed to iridium ....

Keep the thread bumped Amy, one of the appraisers or experts might know in that case.
