This is the most amazing deal ever, and I can''t figure out what the catch is. Even if the seller''s wrong and it''s .45tcw not .45 each it''s still an awesome deal. She doesn''t have certs for them.

Since i''m really risk adverse, I don''t think i have the guts to do it - i''ve never bought anything on Ebay before. Does anyone have any advice for verifying these studs?

I''m aware by posting here, they may be taken away from me. But I need some veteran pricescopers to tell me whether this offer is a sham or not!

Those do seem like a good deal, but FOR SURE the seller is wrong about the ct. weight and price paid. Tiffany does NOT sell .45 each OR .45 total weight studs for only $1450 as she has claimed she paid. Total ct. weight .49 studs sell for $2800 on the Tiff. site. Big difference.

Sounds suspicious especially since she doesn''t show photos of the actual earrings!

I e-mailed her and she claims she received them as a gift in 2000, but yea I have to agree, it seems very illegitimate. Unless the seller is completely clueless and not near a Tiffanys in order to verify the information...which just as I type this sounds utterly ridiculous.

*sigh* I just keep on coming back to them though! thanks MC for knocking some sense into me, I just have to let it go.

Yeah, sorry. . . it''s a bummer that you cannot verify they''re authentic as they would be a GREAT deal IF they are Tiffany earrings (even smaller size stones)! Is she willing to at least e-mail you photos?

I did get pictures but they are fuzzy like so:

This is a tough one.

The fact that the Seller put "KT", karat, instead of "CT", carat, makes me nervous. It''s a lot of money to plunk down on potential CZ''s.

Usually if something sounds too good to be true it is.

I sorta wonder if she just doesn''t know what she has...feedback is good. When I emailed her, she stated they were .45 each and stamped with T&Co and Peretti. *shrug*

Hmmm I wonder if I''m the only one still wondering what the deal is?

Is that a legit Tiffany & Co. bag in the photo?

Not that it matters if it is, but if it''s not then you know for sure it''s a fraud.

It looks like theone I have...but not sure how easy it would be to duplicate?

I would stay away...she does not show actual pictures in the listing (even though she emailed blurry one''s to you), she does not seem to list an accurate TCW to fit with the price and she does not have the original paperwork.

if they are authentic, the nut on each earring will also be stamped t & co, as well as the tab (that the spring ring on bracelet attaches to).

Things that make me very wary:

1. She doesn't know the diff between kt and ct.

2. She only showed stock photos in the listing.

3. Tiff DIAMOND earrings would NOT COME IN A POUCH. Hello?!?!?! They could SCRATCH each other. They'd come in the Tiffany navy blue velvet box.

#3 on my list is just SCREAMING out to me that this is shady. But, I'm a cautious girl.

ETA: The listing is written so that there is no doubt these should be genuine Elsa Peretti for Tiffany. Which means if they're not, then you have recourse for getting your $$ back. However, if she's booted off ebay for selling Tiff fakes or otherwise disappears, you are stuck with them. Just a point to think about.

I have given up on the listing myself, but just as Info to anyone else out there:

1. Apparently, you can buy tiffany bags/boxes etc. on Ebay. Therefore, just because they have authentic bags/boxes doesn''t mean anything.
2. This seller, seems genuine in e-mails, very nice...e-mails are casual. And expressed that she couldn''t seem to get any good pictures due to her digital camera & the flash function (this seems an authentic e-mail to me)
3. The picture itself, is also casual, no attempts at putting the earings in a blank setting; you can actually see reflections of other items on the table suface.

Cons:

1. She claims received gift in 2000, that she believes they were sold for 1450, yet this does not gel with her repeated insistence that the carat weight is .45 cts (or kts as it were =P) each.

2. She has no paperwork for the earings, and doesn''t know what color/clarity they are.

3. She claims she went to Tiffanys to verify the weight information...which doesn''t make any sense to me at all considering the first con.

I was given a pair of the Peretti studs (they are my favorite earrings to wear!). The blue pouch pictured is a Tiffany's pouch (at least it LOOKS like ones I have) that comes with their silver jewelry, and one did NOT accompany the Peretti studs (they put the blue pouch pictured inside the same color Tiffany blue box when given). The Peretti studs came in a black box with the interior being a dark blue velvet and dark blue silk lining the upper part of the box with Tiffany & Co. written in silver on the silk part. The studs themselves are engraved on each of the posts with 'PERETTI' on one side and 180 degrees on the other side of the post 'T&CO.PT950' (both posts engraved). The clippy things that hold the posts in the ears, each one says on the side that faces away from the ear 'T&CO.' on one side and 'PT 950' on the other side (both engravings facing away from the ears and each one positioned opposite each other between the little curly q bumps). Okay, obviously I don't know earring parts very well, but I hope you can understand what I am describing - I see red flags with this one!

ETA: that price is also WAY too low!

That was the exact type of information I was looking for!!! Awesome, now if I ever see Peretti studs on e-bay again, I know what types of questions to ask =)

What would be price be for these if new and authentic? I''m not very familiar with Tiffany pricing.

its always hard w/ stuff on ebay. I am always skeptical. The blue pouch looks like the authentic pouch for SILVER, I think gold has brown packeing as I have a gold and pearl necklace that has a brown pouch. I am not sure about the platinum or diamonds. I do know that whenever I go to Tiffany to get things polished or repaired, they always give me a new pouch, so an authenic puch is really no big deal, becuase they hand them out pretty readily.

someone finally bid on them...i wonder if it''s a pricescoper. lol

I once bought a silver tiffany necklace off ebay - knowing that it would likely be fake, but wanting to see how good of a job the duplicaters could do (and no, I don''t pass it off as real).

It came in the blue pouch which looked quite authentic . All of the spots that should have the peretti stamp had the stamp. Every detail was accounted for.

Except it was fake!

You would be surprised how good the fakes are. I honestly would not trust ebay for buying tiffany jewellery - maybe unless it was from a place like signed pieces, or was an estate piece. But they are too easy to replicate these days.

And the earrings - too much money to test it out you know?

Silver necklace for 25 dollars? Not a big risk.

I see that you aren''t getting the earrings - smart choice. It''s just not worth the risk IMO.

I think this is the third time I''ve said this this week, but eBay is not the place to be buying used anything from Tiffany. Something like 90% of "Tiffany" items are bogus, according to research Tiffany itself conducted a while back.

For those of you wondering, it sold for $1040. If it was a PSer, I for one would like to know if it was authentic!

I doubt it was authentic - as mentioned above, they don't come in that bag but in the box I described above.

I think so too, but you never know.. I''m a sucker for wishful thinking :) Plus, it''s Christmastime!
