Do you think a W-prong pendant would 'sit' well on the neckline or do you think it would be worth while to do a martini or basket setting?

ETA: Also how low in color and clarity would you go?

I can''t really help you with the W-prong setting, having never seen it. I have a 3 prong martini setting and I really like it. As far as color and clarity, I think you can safely go to I color and SI2 clarity. I have an I, SI2, and to be honest I might even go to a J someday. My I looks very white, and not one person has ever said to me that my diamond doesn''t look white. And I was lucky enough to get an eyeclean SI2. I can''t even really find the inclusions under the loupe!

I have never seen pictures of the W-prong pendant, so it is hard to comment. I tried on a solitaire pendant at Tiffany''s last weekend that was in a 4-prong basket similar to the four corners pendant at WF, and I loved the way that pendant looked just floating there on my neck.

The martini pendants and earrings are wildly popular on PS, but I prefer the look of 4 prongs. From the front, the four corners pendant would look like a better match to the W-prong earrings than the martini pendant would.

Hi,

I have the WF basket setting and it would sit fine if the chain was a bit longer than the standard 16". Because I went with the regular length, the chain moves up and the diamond ends up in my sternum. . . so, a jeweler is going to have to make the chain longer (which will be a pain). FWIW, I''m only 5" 4'', and others who are taller have mentioned making the chain longer, so this may be a universal need.

For color, you could easily go as low as a J and be fine (and an eye clean SI stone would make for the perfect price). Mine is an E and you know, it kind of looks SO white it almost looks like a CZ! lol

What size diamond are you planning on getting?

Can't help much with the setting, but as long as not considering a very large stone for the pendant, would go to an I, maybe even a J if a trusted vendor. eyeclean SI1-2

ETA: would consider one of the rare eyeclean I1s (or an I1 with one prongable grade setting inclusion) also if trusted vendor or long return period to check out

When I tried on the basket setting at Tiffany, I noticed the same problem with the 16" chain. It just didn''t sit right, but when I unclasped it and let it drop a little, it was just perfect. The sales lady thought 17" would be perfect for me. (BTW, I''m 5''11") I always thought G was the lowest I would be willing to go in color because I have noticed a slight tint in a few I color stones, but the H color solitaire I tried on a Tiffany looked really good. I might consider an I in an ACA (but I am extraordinarily color sensitive and notice slight differences in color in everyday objects that most people don''t).
